HCG levels rised, but progesterone levels fell

Hi,

  I went in and got a blood test done today to make sure my numbers went up.  My HCG levels did rise from 500 something to 900 something, however my progesterone levels fell from 8.0 to 7.2.  Does this mean that I am miscarrying?  Is anybody else going or has gone through the same thing?  I am really scared that I am having another miscarriage.  Any advice is much appreciated.  Thanks.

No one can predict if you are miscarrying. What did your doctor say? Are they putting you on progesterone supplements? Please ask about your options.

You definitely need to ask for Prometrium. (progesterone supplement.) ASK for it even if they don't offer it because I've heard a lot of doctors WONT offer it for whatever ridiculous reason. I had to take Prometrium with 4 out of 6 pregnancies. My kids may not be here otherwise because my levels were very low.

Crinone is another progesterone supplement. I've been on it for the past 4 weeks.
Married since June 2008. DH - 28, me - 29. TTC since Sept 2010. Seeing an RE since March 2012. HSG was normal. Minor MFI issue and I don't ovulate on my own/irregular cycles.
May 2012 - Clomid+TI = BFN, June 2012 - Clomid+Trigger+TI = BFN, August 2012 - Clomid+Trigger+IUI = canceled due to cyst, September 2012 - Clomid+Trigger+IUI=BFP! Due 6/12/13

I don't know if a drop in progesterone indicates a pending miscarriage, but I do believe if your progesterone drops too low it can cause a miscarriage (because the drop in progesterone is what causes you to shed your lining). Are you being supplemented? I believe at that level you should be. Growing HCG is a great sign. I definitely think you should call your Dr and talk to her more!

Thank you ladies for the advice.  I am trying to stay positive and it has been a really hard week.  I have been praying daily that God protects this little one that is within me and that he/she will be safe and healthy.  Thank you for your advice.
