Personally, I think they're mostly the same. Some may disagree and suggest asking you Dr. It's all based on what your needs are though. Folic Acid, Iron, and DHA-Omega 3 are the main supplements to look for which are in most prenatal vitamins. I found a generic prenatal vitamin which had all I was looking for except DHA. That is because that's what I picked because most of the prenatal vitamins containing DHA were derived from Fish Oil. Being vegetarian, I opted away from that and instead take a generic prenatal vitamin and an Algae Oil (another primary source of high DHA-Omega 3) which I found from an amazing online health food store http://healthygoods.com/

Whatever you decide, or your Dr. recommends, better to take them sooner than later.

I am on chewables bc I can NOT swallow pills. lol My doc prescribed prenanta, and they are awesome. I don't feel sick at all. In addition, the target gummies ROCK! Good luck to you, as they are all very similar, if you are gonna do the Target one's you have to take an iron pill as well, bc they contain no iron. Something I didn't know with my last pregnancy until the doc said my iron was very low and I read the bottle. hahahaha

I just noticed the other day that my gummy ones say "This product does not contain iron because it may appeal to children" huh! so I'm thinking once I finish this bottle I'll switch back to the regular pills. No point in doing the gummy ones if I still have to take a pill anyway!

The prescription ones usually have more folic acid than the OTC ones, but my OB seems to think there hasn't really been any proof that 1000mg over 800mg makes any difference. The FDA recommendation for pregnant women is like 400, so most exceed that by quite a bit.

I take the one a day with the DHA supplement.  I took them when I was pregnant with DD and didn't have any issues and they are fine this time around to.  I did take the target brand that is basically the same as the one a day for the first 30 days of this pregnancy and found that they had a strong odor and flavor compared to the one a day.  They were making me feel sick and since I have switched back I have not had any issues.

you might need to try a few if you are having some issues.

I use the Target Gummies.

They are the only prenatals that don't give me a horrible aftertaste.

I was taking One a Day but once the nausea started, I couldn't get them down.  I have since been taking the gummy prenatal vitamins and they are so much easier to handle!

Depends. How far are you into your pregnancy? I cannot stomach prenatal pills when I have morning sicknesss. They are huge and chaulky and I instantly start gagging. It's the WORST! I did some research and switched over to Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix. It's a flavorless powder that you mix into any drink. I drink it in the late afternoon with Gatorade when I'm the least nausesous and I keep it down every time. It contains ginger root which helps with my nausea. I can't even taste it. It's about $25 for a 30-day supply online. It also has DHA which is a must.

Iron overdoses are very bad for young children under 6, I guess and can be fatal, so that makes sense. Especially because a prenatal vitamin actually contains MORE than the recommended dose for an adultyou need your normal amount of iron plus EXTRA for baby! So even worse for your other younguns to get into than your average multivitamin.

Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix is the besttttt. I can't swallow prenatal pills because they are huge and upset my stomach. This is a vitamin drink mix that you can mix with stuff like Gatorade, juice, smoothies, etc. It's flavorless and you have no idea you're even taking a prenatal vitamin. It's like $25 online for a 30-day supply. I swear by it.
