CP- Continue Tradition?

We are discussing having a third child.  Both of my sons have their fathers' middle name somewhere in their names (Oldest son from a previous marriage). However if we have a girl we would be using my name (Jaymie Lynn) which personally I don't care for and it sounds southern when said together in my opinion.  To top it off my MIL is a Jennifer Lynn.

Our top three names right now are Amelia, Cora and Emma; and I prefer middle names like Claire, Day & Elizabeth.

I think I am a little confused, is continuing the tradition using the MN Lynn? Or your entire FN/MN? If its using your MN Lynn as the baby's MN then I say go for it, I wouldn't use your whole FN/MN though.

I guess the question is do you like Lynn?  Do you prefer family names in the MN spot?  Don't force yourself if you really don't like Lynn.

I voted no because if you don't love the mn that would be traditionally carried on, I wouldn't use it!

I don't think there is any point in passing on a MN that you don't even like.  It makes way more sense to me to pick a name that you love.  Our top girl name is comprised of two (real) names that no one in our family (as far as we know) have ever had, but we love them, and that's good enough for me.

I voted no. I think you (general you) should name your child a name that you love, not one that you feel obligated to use.

I voted no. I think Cora Elizabeth would be really pretty.

I don't think you should feel pressure from yourself/your child to use your MN if you dislike it. But have you considered adding a similar suffix to the names you already like? Like Coraline or Emmeline? You could still use the NNs Cora and Emma, but maybe the modern suffix would give you a pass in your mind like you are giving your daughter a family name and not just random names you like.

(Although isn't Day a family name for you? If I am remembering that correctly I think that as the MN would fulfill any 'obligations.'
