Antibiotics

Hi...I should know this and I couldn't look it up in my book today, so thanks for the help!

Next week (Th-Sat time frame) I should O.  I woke up this morning with a sinus infection--well, 99% of the time my symptoms are a sinus infection.  Can I take antbiotics while TTC?  Are there risks?  Does it affect conception?  Thanks!

Why not try to avoid antibiotics? Many people don't take antibiotics for sinus infections. Water, vitamin C and plenty of rest!

Yes

Although, I would think if you can be on antibiotic with birth control and get pregnant it shouldn't be a problem. Just tell your dr. and he should give you the appropriate antibiotic.

Edit: changed dog (haha?) to dr.

I have to take antibiotics right away, some people do. Especially for an infection, not drainage.
OP, don't let it go too long without consulting your doctor, or it will just get worse.
And as pp said, if you can get pregnant on bcp and antibiotics, you are probably fine.

Make sure to tell your doctor that you are TTC. Not all antibiotics are the same.

I went to the doctor yesterday, and came home with a diagnosis of a sinus infection and prescription for zpack as well.  Told the doctor we've been trying for 8 months, and he said the zpack is a Category B and is the safest antibiotic I could take, and shouldn't be a factor any more than anything else would be.  I'm CD9 right now, so it could be out of my system by the time I O'd anyway.

But like a PP said, when women are on BC and antibiotics and get pregnant, most things turn out okay, so I'm not worried about it.  Hey maybe it'll help!

I am actually on antibiotics right now for a UTI. Told my OB we were trying and might be in my 2ww already, and she made sure to give me a pregnancy-safe antibiotic (Macrobid). That is actually what they prescribe to every woman who comes into my drs office with a UTI, pregnant or not. I would just talk to the doc and see if there is a preg-safe antibiotic they can prescribe you. Feel better!

Most sinus infections are viral and antibiotics do nothing.
