Sensitive teeth!

Has anyone else been experiencing extreme sensitive teeth? I thought I had a cavity but dentist said everything is fine. Then I read about sensitive teeth And gums with pregnancy.. But I haven't heard anyone mention it otherwise.. It's painful!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had really sensitive gums! Every time I brushed my teeth I would spit out a mouth full of blood with it. It was really gross!

All I know on this subject, because I went to the dentist about two weeks ago, is when we're pregnant, our mouth/teeth/gum health requires extra attention because the body is more focused on creating a baby. My dentist told me to floss daily, brush daily, and use sensitive toothpaste if it feels necessary.

Happy gums to you! Best wishes.

Just wanted to add that you need to make sure you are taking enough calcium, or your baby will leach the calcium from your body, which includes your teeth. :(

This is not true!  The baby does not take calcium from your teeth.  Where do these crazy ideas come from?

I highly recommend Sensodyne if your teeth are really bothering you. I have to use it all the time because I have sensitive teeth and it's absolutely a lifesaver.

Hang in there little one! More info in bio Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

Thank you. I did buy sensodyne and have used it twice a day since. I think it is already helping a little. The whole calcium thing I don't drink milk normally but kinda funny that lately I have been craving chocolate milk! Ha I have been trying to get more calcium than normal!

I had a lot of issued with my gums during my first pregnancy.  My dentist explained that your mouth actually overcompensates when you are pregnant and that's why some women have issues.  If you have minor mouth issues before being pregnant they can just get amplified during pregnancy.  Just make sure to brush and floss at least twice a day and if you can tolerate it you should get your 6 month cleaning during pregnancy.

good luck!

i am a hygienist....this whole idea that the baby can steal calcium from your teeth is totally untrue. what tends to lead to dental problems during pregnancy and after is just lifestyle changes. you have less time/energy to take care of yourself. take your vitamins, go get your cleaning, and brush and floss well daily and you wont have to worry. use sensodye if your experiencing sensitivity.

also-if you are experiencing ms, and throwing up, DO NOT immediately brush your teeth, sounds gross but it is pretty much just brushing stomach acid into your teeth and is very damaging. rinse with water and wait a little before brushing.

and flouride in water and toothpaste wont hurt you or your baby as long as you dont eat the entire tube of toothpaste
