1 oz of powdered formula

How do you make just 1oz of powdered formula.  Do you just use half the scoop?

I always make 2. But, half a scoop should work. Some people make pitchers of formula to keep in fridge and warm as needed. A lot of is wasted.

That is a good idea.  My LO is up to 3oz a feeding and I don't want to make 4oz and waste it.

DS takes 3 ounce bottles so I use a scoop and a half.

That's what I have been doing, but as usual, I question everything.

We use half a scoop if we need an ounce.  Or even 1/4 scoop if we only need 1/2 and ounce.  I just hate the thought of wasting any formula when it is so expensive.

When DS is on an odd number of oz (3, 5, 7, etc) we make double and split it into two bottles.

So if he is at 3 oz, we make a 6 oz bottle and pour half of it into another bottle.

We are on an even number of bottles, so it doesn't go to waste and I know that the formula to water ratio is correct.

That is just what works for us.

That's what I do. I make a lot of 3oz bottles by doing a scoop and a half

Formula companies and doctors don't recommend trying to do 1/2 or 1/4 scoops because they research shows that what you eyeball as 1/2 or 1/4 scoop is highly inaccurate, so in most instances you are shorting your baby on a bit of nutrition that they need.  with an older baby it isn't quite as important, as they are eating a lot more ounces over all.  but for a very young baby, every ounce counts.

It is much better to make the 6 oz and split it into 2, 3 oz bottles.  It's good for 24 hours once made so it's not going to go to waste unless you feed from the big 6 oz bottle.

I have a digital kitchen scale, so we just weighed a full scoop of our formula (which turned out to be 10grams) so to do a half scoop we weigh out 5 grams.
