Now that we know for sure...

Ok, we found out yesterday that we are, for certain, having a boy. You guys gave me such positive feedback on my girl name (Stella Elizabeth) that I had convinced myself that it would be a girl ;) I am very excited to have another son..just a little sad to shelf such a lovely name that DH and I both loved.

So, very early on...like 8 weeks pregnant...we both loved the name Barrett for a boy. We like strong boy names that are not super popular. We also like a stong family component (usually in the middle name). The problem is that we have  (what we feel like) are not so great mens names in BOTH of our families! Try these out...

Garvis, Mannes (May-nus), Willard, Clarence, McAuther, Ethridge..I mean seriously!

We like Barrett Lynn (my grandparent's last name) but don't want to go with that strickly because we have liked it all along. Her are some other family names we would consider using in some way but not really as first names..

James, Robert, Russell, Sidney...All very nice names :)

I really don't love...please name my baby posts...but I know you ladies will give lovely suggestions. In the end we may stick with Barrett Lynn...but we want to have that "it is THE name" feeling!

Siblings are Carys Jo and Sawyer Burt...both middle names are family names. And for a rather large hint at our last name check out my user name ;)

Thanks!!

Barrett is really not my style (last name trendy) and it means "quarrelsome."  Eeeek.

I like a lot of your middle name choices: Mannes, Willard, James, Robert, and Russell are all awesome.

What about Benjamin, Emmett, Owen, or Henry for first names?

But, if you stick with Barrett, I like Barrett Mannes and Barrett Willard.  I like more random middle names!

DH loves Barrett too. Some people might associate it with the firearms company. Also, I've always read that it means "Trader" or "bear-like", though behind the name does say quarrelsome. I prefer Barrett James, mostly because Barrett is (kinda)unisex and so is Lynn.

Barrett James and Barrett Robert are nice.

You could use a variation of one of the other names, i.e. Barrett Arthur instead of McArthur. Just a thought! Good Luck!

I really like Barrett.  I know one IRL and he's a nice, handsome guy.  I like Barrett James, Barrett Robert and could even get behind Barrett Mannes.  Not a fan of Barrett Lynn.  Lynn makes it sound feminine.

I love Barrett!  It's one of my GP names DH hates.

I think Barrett Lynn sounds great, so I don't know why you wouldn't go with that, but for other choices I think Barret McAuther sounds really nice together.

I loooove Carys and Sawyer (Sawyer is our top pick if this LO is a boy and I fought hard for Carys and lost).  I can't say I love Barrett as much as your other two, but Barrett James does sound nice together.  I definately prefer Bennett or Garrett over Barrett (althought I don't like the nn Ben with your other kids' names since they don't have easy nn's)
