Name spelling

We are team green and have picked out a boys name and girls name. We haven't told anyone our names. I can't believe I'm actually about to write one of the names down! Which spelling do you prefer for our daughter? Makenzie or Makensie? Her middle name will be Ayre. Its probably a boy and asking this question is pointless.

I have never seen the second spelling and if I did, it would confuse me.

the ones my friends are: Mackenzie and Makenzie

I agree.

This.  If you spell it with the "s", no one will spell it correctly and your daughter will forever be having to spell her name out to people.

I agree as well. Save your daughter a world of trouble and spell it in the most common way.  Having to spell your name out to everyone is a real pain, and if someone makes an error on an official form (much more likely with an unusual spelling) it can be frustrating and time consuming to fix.

Yes I prefer Makenzie also. Was just looking in a baby name book and can't believe all the different ways to spell Makenzie!

I'm not going with Mackenzie because I don't want people to call her Mac-Kenzie. Makes me think, old Mac Donald.

I also totally agree. I have a name that I have had to spell my whole life and it just becomes a hassle

I would only use the spelling MacKenzie. I am just not a fan of variation spelling on perfectly good names

Are the other spellings pronounced differently?

For god's sake don't get creative with spellings. It's McKenzie. To do otherwise is to condemn your child to a lifetime of having a name that screams "my parents and I are uneducated." Harsh, yes, but also truthful. Always imagine how your kid's name will look at the top of a résumé for a highly competitive position. Makenzie? Not so much.

I like Mackenzie actually. Makenzie would be my second choice.

I have never seen it spelled this way.

I like Mackenzie. My cousins name is spelled this way, and no one calls her Mac-Kenzie.

Our daughter is going to be McKenzie, but we are spelling it like the last name.

Hahahaha!! I honestly can't remember ever seeing this name written, but if there is a traditional way it's probably worth considering. That said, my baby is going to be Zakaria. It's the arab spelling, but certainly not common here. DH is Moroccan and has insisted on this spelling/name. I do worry a tiny bit because of the above point.
