rock and play vs bassinet/bouncer

This is my second child and in the past 7 years gear has changed so much. With my first he hated the bassinet and slept in bed with me but loved his bouncer and often slept in it during naps or even at night sometimes. Since this will be our last child and nothing was saved from the first we have been thrifty and buying a lot of used items and I have already bought a Eddie Bauer bassinet and the fisher price zen collection bouncer but recently discovered the rock and play sleeper online and have seen where a lot of my new mom friends love them and babies perfer them. I was wondering if it would be worth the time to search for one used or if it's the same thing as a bouncer/bassinet.

No personal experience yet but the rock n play saved my sisters life! I stayed with her or a month to help out with her newborn and he sleeps very well in the RNP. I had recommended it to her based on TB, and she loves it! 

Its reclined so really helps LO sleep better!

Every baby is different, but mine preferred the RNP over the bouncer. I would also do a swing though, it's our sanity saver!

 

Hypothyroid/Fibroids/Stage 4 Endometriosis

10/2010 Open myomectomy to remove 3 fibroids largest @ 8 inches. Stage 4 endometriosis and inoperable/blocked left tube.

3/2011 Laporoscopy/Hysteroscopy. 3 endometrioma cysts, hydrosalpinx, left tube and half of the left ovary removed.

5/2011 IUI #1 medicated w/injections, 1 follie = BFP!

6/2011 Blighted Ovum/ D&C

9/2011 IUI #2 medicated w/injections, 2 follies = BFP!

If I were you, I'd return the bassinet and get the RNP.  Babies tend to like it better because the incline is easier on their tummies than being flat in the bassinet.  And it's cuddlier if that makes any sense?  The sides are inclined so it sort of hugs the baby.  We had a bassinet with DS but it was useless.  He'd scream in it after 3 minutes but STTN in his bouncer.  Next kid I'm getting the RNP and leaving the bassinet in storage!
