Gift Idea

I'm a FTM, and I recently had my baby shower. I started a new job this year, and the surgeon that I work closely with was very generous and spent $80+ on gifts for LO. She is also expecting a baby, her 3rd, about a month behind me. I really want to get her something, but have no idea what to get. She's not having a shower, but she did register for a few things at BBB just to get the completion coupon. I looked on there, but it's really just bigger things (like a double stroller) and then breast pumping accessories. And they're keeping the sex a surprise, so I can't really pick out some cute outfits. She already has a boy and a girl, both under 4, so I imagine she already has the basic gear things that she needs.

Does anyone have any ideas for a gift that she would appreciate as a third-time mom? Unfortunately, I don't really have $80 to spend, so I'm a little afraid of what she'll think if I don't spend as much as she did (though I think she'll just be pleasantly surprised to receive a gift).

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

You could get her some gender neutral swaddles, the Aden + Anais are really nice and you can never have too many of those!

Maybe a gift card for a nice meal out after the baby is born?  I don't think that it has to be the same amount as what she gave to you either.  Just do what you feel comfortable with.  It is the thought that counts!

If you want to give her a gift before the baby comes, you could always go with diapers and wipes.  Maybe not exciting, but oh so practical and I don't know any new mom who wouldn't appreciate that.  If you can wait until after the baby arrives and you know the gender and name, you could get some sort of personalized item with the baby's name on it, i.e., a pillow, blanket, etc.

Maybe make a small diaper cake or basket with expendible items (shampoo, diaper cream, pacis, etc.).  You can make both fairly inexpensively and they look really cute.  I wouldn't worry about trying to match the $80 she spent- if she's in a position where she can afford to, she probably just wanted to be generous and I'm sure she's not expecting you to have the same budget.

I like the personalized idea!

I bet you could find something really cute on Etsy.

I like this idea!  Another thing that I really liked was when people bought us a super cute, more expensive outfit that I wouldn't have bought myself.  I guess with little girls maybe that is more the norm, but with my little guy we got a lot of very adorable, but more practical clothing items like pajamas or onesies.  We got a couple Ralph Lauren coverall outfits that are soooo cute but I seriously doubt I would have shelled out for them.  He wears them all the time!  So maybe you can wait to find out what the baby is then just go buy one really really cute, higher end outfit.

As the majority of moms have already stated diapers are always in need especially since her youngest is around 4.   If you wanted to go more fancy then since she will be a mom of 3 maybe you could treat her to a nice pedicure for her feet.  She does not expect you to buy her something that cost $80.00 so just get what you can afford and try to think of the gift being more important than the cost.
