Disney names?

I am in looooove with Disney. Some of the names of princesses are so beautiful. What do you think of these?

Belle...I like Bella too
Merida
Aurora
Tiana
Mulan I'd never use it..but it's so pretty!

The only name I like is Aurora. I actually went to school with an Aurora, but she wasn't named after the princess.

Merida- pretty
Aurora- pretty, but I find it a bit difficult to say
Tiana- pretty
Mulan I'd never use it..but it's so pretty!- I don't like the moo sound
Jasmine- nice

My favorite Disney names are Briar and Flora, though.

My favorites are Snow White and Cinderella. Maleficent is awesome too.

 

Seriously though, Aurora is the only one from that list that I can handle. Belle/Bella is ridiculously overdone and the rest just aren't pretty to me. 

I agree with PP about the name Flora though. LOVE that one.

I just can't do Flora...it is pretty, but that was my middle school music teacher's name...she didn't like me too much.

You could do "Isabelle" with "Belle" as a nn or "Isabella" with "Belle" or "Bella" as a nn. Or "Annabelle/Annabel" with the "Belle" nn too. Just a thought.

I think with the ones that came out more recently, Merida and Tiana wouldn't work because of it. You know?

I knew an Aurora (she was my mother's age), and she was great, but I feel like that is a name that really has to fit a person. Maybe that's just because she was a big personality and I can't imagine naming anyone else that though!

I've definitely heard Jasmine and variations thereof a bit too.

Aurora is the only one I like.  I put it on my list but my husband hates it.  BOO.

Not a Disney princess, but one of my favorite names is Odette (Swan Princess). If we ever have a girl #4, it'll be in the running. Wink

I think the names are pretty, but at the same time I wouldn't want the Disney princess tie-in.  It just feels too goofy.  No Disney pun intended.  I actually don't think Belle, Bella, and Jasmine are mostly identified with Disney though.

I love Merida, it definitely grew on me watching the movie.

I also like Alice, not a disney princess but still goes with the Disney theme w/o being obvious.

For a split second I considered bringing Merida up to DH. It fits our naming style, however the correlation to Disney isn't really something I'm game for, nor would I want to subject my LO to for her whole life! 

I feel like Belle, Jasmine, Alice (in wonderland), Mary (Poppins) all work as FN w.o too strong of Disney ties.

Now Aurora, & Ariel scream "DISNEY PRINCESS" to me.

I think Merida is beautiful. Not sure how popular or trendy it is since the movie is so recent, but that's not important to me if I really like the name. Same with Belle or Bella. I could care less if its popular. It's popular because it's a nice name.

I'm not Scottish/Gaelic, but I am in love with the Scottish culture, even before Brave.

Liking other Gaelic names and culture is great, I didn't mean that you had to be of that heritage. I just meant show some appreciation for it outside of the movie. Thanks for the Mulan input. I didn't see anything on behindthename.com but figured it wouldn't be. China has a soft spot in my heart, I studied there for a month in college. I remember asking students what were common names, because we were always given English names and I asked about Mulan and they all acted like it was some weird name they'd never heard of and the meaning would be equivalent to us naming a child plant or flower versus Rose or Lily. And not a 'real' name. Maybe it was a regional thing?

One of my best friends has Aurora as her girl name.  Nickname would be Rory.  Love it actually.
