Tri-Sprintec Birth Control

My doctor prescribed me Ortho Tri-Cyclen for my birth control, but of course my insurance company wants to me to use the generic. I've always used OTC, so I was just wondering if anyone has used this generic and how you felt while on it. I looked up some information online and there's a lot of people who've had issues with it.

Thanks.

Any triphasic ocp can cause mood swings. You can't take any estrogen containing medications if you have migraine with aura as it increases your stroke risk. If you're bfing, your milk supply will drop. Sometimes your milk will dry up. Your periods may be heavier on a triphasic than on a Monophasic. The generic itself should make a difference. I personally don't prescribe triphasic ocp's. Monophasic are better and have fewer side effects.

generic is virtually the same as the brand name. If you did well on OTC then you should do fine on the generic

I do not agree with the previous post about the generic being fine. I was as tri-sprintec and then the pharmacy filled an other OTC genreic and I did not like it.

The generic will have the same active ingreient, but can use different binders and fillers, which is what makes the generics differ from each other.

I would sy try it for a 2-3 months and if it doesn't suit you try another genreic or have your doc write a prescription for the brand name...you may have to pay more for it though.

The biggest side effect was that my boobs grew a cup size, but I didn't gain much weight other than that.

I was on ortho tri-cyclen for about two years, then because of a change in my insurance I went to tri-sprintec instead. I didn't notice any difference between the two and I didn't have any problems with either one.
