NN for Madeleine

Not KU, just daydreaming.  I love the FN name Madeleine but hate the NN Maddy.  I saw on BTN that Lena is a form of Madeleine and was wondering if you guys thought it could work as a NN ( I know some people, including myself, would feel the need to shorten the FN at times.)  Another one I was thinking of was Mae but not sure if that's too much of a stretch.  Thoughts?

Do you intend on calling her one of these NNs? If you do, why not just name her Mae or Lena?

Because I like the name Madeleine too, but would want something shorter to call her if I wanted to.  I am in the camp that likes to have a formal FN and then an informal NN.  I know this is not everyone's cup of tea though.

I voted for Mae because I just cannot get behind Lena. 

Perhaps Leine (line-ey)?

BFP #1: 10/27/11; EDD 6/27/12; mmc 11/27/11 @9w4d (Baby measured 6w).
BFP #2: 2/17/12; EDD 10/29/12; heart rate of 78bpm on 3/12/12 @7w (Baby measured 6w); no hb 3/19/12 @8w; D&C 3/20/12.
BFP #3: 7/23/12; EDD 4/2/13; miscarried one twin 8/11/12 @5w6d, remaining twin just may be my rainbow.

i dont see lena or mae in Madeleine. I have a cousin and we just call her maddy.

Maybe the Madeleine spelling isn't the best... I tend to pronounce the name as mada-LYNN rather than mada-LINE.  Lena seems like more of a stretch when it's pronounced the second way. 

HMM this fn/nn combo doesn't seem to be getting much love right now... oh well!

I'm not a fan of NNs, but I am of the opinion that parents should be able to use whatever NN they wish. IMO, that's why they are NNs. I know many people whose NNs aren't obvious based on their FNs.
