Tell Me About Your FET Experience

Going through IVF, I felt like I had all the inside knowledge because my good friend had done it twice. She never had frozen embryos, so now I feel like I'm going in blind.

I call CD 1 to schedule my WTF appointment and probably get a prescription for BCP. My nurse briefly mentioned estrogen and Lupron, but wasn't specific about protocol. She said it takes approximately 6 weeks, but that the lab will be closed the last 2 weeks of December and that could impact how things go.

Please share your experience! 
Dx PCOS 2006 - on Metformin
Dx Hypothyroid 2009 - on Synthroid
TTC since 12/2009
DH - Low Sperm Count

IVF with ICSI Cycle #1 - October/November- 10/11 Begin Lupron, 10/20 Begin 300iu Gonal-F, Trigger 10/31, ER 11/2, 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 6 fertilized, ET 11/5 - 2 Grade 1 8 cells, 2 frozen blasts (5BA, 3BB), Beta #1 @ 8dp3dt: 7, Beta #2 @ 11dp3dt: 2 :(

IVF with ICSI Cycle #2 - January - 12/30 Begin Lupron, 1/8 Begin 300iu Gonal-F, ER 1/20, 13 retrieved, 11 mature, 6 fertilized, ET 1/25 - 2 blasts (grades 4BA, 1)

Can't speak for anyone else, but this was my protocol. 

Birth control for at least 2 weeks

Ultrasound & blood test to make sure everything looks good & quiet.

Off bc pills for a few days before starting estrogen.

Back in a week for ultrasound & check estrogen.

Back in a week for ultrasound & check estrogen & progesterone.  Start progesterone & methylprednisone & baby asprin.

6 days later, FET. Continue w/ estrogen, progesterone & baby asprin until beta.
My TTC Journey:
Dx: Hypothalamic amenorrhea
Progesterone to induce period w/ the goal of Clomid - never got period (September 2011). RE referral.
Femera - never responded to the meds (December 2011)
Clomid with TI - BFN (February 2012)
Injectables (Menopur) - hyperstimulated/canceled (March 2012)
Injectables #2 (Menopur) with TI- BFN (May 2012)
IVF - OHSS (transfer canceled), but 11 frozen! (June 1012)
FET - 1 transferred on 8/09/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 350.3; Beta#2: 365; Beta#3: 157. Biochemical pregnancy.
FET # 2 - 1 transferred on 11/01/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 337; Beta#2: 769. BFP!!! 1st ultrasound 11/28/12 showed heartbeat, but measuring 5 days behind. 2nd ultrasound 12/05/12 - miscarriage.
FET # 3 - 1 transferred on 1/24/13. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): BFN.
FET # 4 - 2 transferred on 3/28/13. Beta #1 (11dp5dt): 673; Beta #2: 1265. Just under 6 weeks - m/c at home. WTF appointment in late May.

Sounds similar to my FET protocol. I was on BCPs for a full cycle. I started Lupron injections daily on CD 21 and those continued until "ovulation" (aka CD 14). I started the estrogen patches to build my lining and had to change them every other day. I started PIO at "ovulation." For pills, I did 2 sets of antibiotics, Medrol for 4 days, baby aspirin, prenatal, and foltx.

I went in for baseline u/s and bloodwork. I had bloodwork only a week later to check estrogen (estrogen was low so I had to add estradiol pills vaginally 2x/day), u/s and bloodwork a week after that to check my lining and estrogen level, then back about another week later for ET.

In my experience, FET is way more relaxed than IVF and my biggest advice is to keep your body calm and relaxed. I didn't do any suppression before my FET, just started estrogen on CD1 of cycle and will continue on it to 10weeks. This is in addition to my  pre-natals & low dose aspirin & i take extra folic acid due to MTHTR deficiency. They will bring in you in for 2 u/s to make sure your lining is building up ok.

After transfer, i did PIO shots and 2 progesterone suppositories a day, (just did suppositories during IVF) and my RE did a "HCG wash" during FET, which i recommend you asking your RE about. The day of the FET i made sure to eat a good breakfast, did some gentle yoga and did pre and post acupuncture with a meditation podcast playing. Honestly, my IVF was really scary & clinical but my FET seemed much more "magical" and relaxed.

GL and they say FET success rates are just as high as fresh transfers now!

Me: 31yrs old. In same/sex relationship for 12years
I'm carrying & we are using anonymous donor sperm
In March 2012 diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (AMH = O.67) & IVF recommended

FET (2 5dt embryos) on 11/5/12= BFP! Beta #1=58; Beta #2=98, Beta #3=373. First u/s on 11/28/12 = 1 sac with fetal pole & heartbeat! Next u/s = 12/12/12

TTC History
IVF#1 (Antagonist Protocol) Sept 2012 = BFN
10R; 8F; 4 Day5 GradeA embryos. Put back 2, froze 2.
12 IUIs (in 9 cycles) since March 2011:
6 unmedicated/unmonitored = BFNs
3 with Clomid/Trigger/monitoring/progesterone = BFNs
