And yes, obviously the purpose is to make money. But what should the goals of the members be? (I'm assuming our goals aren't to make thebump money?)

I put other.  First because I agree that the "purpose" of this board is for the forum owners to make money.  And I don't think it's got a specific purpose the way you want it to.  It's a place to talk about TTC.  Beyond that, we define its purpose. 

And for me, it's about having a place to talk about TTC, to make friendships (some of my best friends are from TTGP), and to be entertained by drama.

Sorry if your feelings were hurt by this group, but the point for me isn't to "be super supportive of everyone" or anything like that.

I'm being honest here -- and you can choose to believe me or not -- but I haven't had my feelings personally hurt by people on this board. I've been made fun of for deserved reasons and I can't complain about that. I write boring posts sometimes. I've felt bad for newbs sometimes but my goal with that post was just to see if we could make the link more visible...even for our own sake not having to read those posts day after day. Such a post was visible to me on another bump board so it should be possible, but I don't know how to set it that way here. There's one example you linked where I challenged the "facepalm" to my post but I was late enough to the game that the poster didn't respond so I guess I'll never know....

Hell no. haha. If that were my purpose I'd be really stupid--this type of thing just generates more drama, right?

I do see people with seemingly conflicting goals on here so I was just curious about how many people had which goals. People complain when their feelings are hurt, but if not many of us see it as that nurturing kind of place then maybe users should know that. Likewise, people complain about the drama but I think a lot of people like it.

Well that's good you weren't butthurt.

I will say you're coming across really strong for being new to this board. We get these types of questions all.the.time. We also get the posters trying to "change" the board all.the.time. Your new, chill out and see how things work around here. multiple clicky polls and follow up posts are too much.
