Help on spelling (poll)

We've decided on a name for our baby girl, but I wanted to get some opinions on spelling. We are pronouncing it eh-lee-auna. We just want to spell it in a way that makes the most sense. Thoughts?

How should we spell it?

I would go with an -ana ending if you are going for that pronounciation. I would be more likely to pronounce an -ana ending as "ah-nuh" than an -anna ending.

Agree. For me, -ana usually means AH-nuh while -anna is AN-nuh.

Eliana

This is my vote, too, but of the two listed I'd go with the first. The second has an -anna pronunciation to me.

Right, that's great feedback. Thanks. I suppose going with the Elliana option might also help the pronunciation of the first part of the name as well. Eh- instead of EE-.

I would also pronounce Eliana the way you describe. It's a common enough name that I don't think you'll have many people say EE-.

I voted for Elliana but I prefer it with only one 'l', Eliana.  No need for an extra 'l' and the -ana ending usually denotes ah-na.

This. They're two different pronunciations. If you want ah-nuh, I'd go with the first spelling for sure.

I picked Eliana for your pronunciation. The other spelling would make me say elli-anna.

I prefer Eliana. Especially if you're going for the -auna pronunciation.
