Implantation Bleeding? (or not) and Low HGC?

Two questions for the group:

 1. Did anyone else have implantation bleeding? I believe that is what I had. About a week before my period was due, I had light bleeding 1 day and very light spotting for 3. Since this didn't seem normal for me and I was ttc I took a test and it was positive! However...

 2. Is an hgc level of 97 too low for 4 weeks past lmp? I was told to go to the ER after the bleeding/positive pregnancy test and that was the level. 24 hours later with another blood test it was just under 300 but the doctor told me that she still thought that I was going to miscarry..I hopefully will find out about another test that I had today to see if things have improved... Everywhere I read about hgc it seems that doubling in 24 hrs would be good, but the doctor said this means I will miscarry! Well since then (been 1 week) I have had no bleeding and have pregnancy symptoms such as sore boobs..

Hopefully you can find my questions in this rant..I have been a mess for a week now just wanting to know what is going on..would love any opinion.

1. I did not have implantation bleeding with any of my pregnancies

2. No, that is not too low for 4 weeks past your last period. They are looking for a doubling time of 48-72 hours, so yes, doubling in 24 hours would be good, not bad as far as I know. Was the Dr giving you this information an ER Dr or an OB? My guess is that if it was an ER doc they just don't know as much about this stuff. If you aren't bleeding, you are still pregnant and I would follow up with your OB (and maybe get a new one if it was your OB giving you this information). Can you request another blooddraw? You are much too early for an ultrasound to show anything, but rising betas can give you an indication of what is happening.

Thanks for the reply.. it was an ob who said that but she had a terrible bedside manner I thought so I went to a new doc today. I am in a Scramble to find an ob since my gyno dropped the ob part since the last time I saw her. Hoping for good news in the morning...

I have had implantation bleeding and also brown spotting all the way, it is true that is not normal but it may be nothing too. So they told me to calm down and just act normally and wait for the first trimester to be over.

I had an u/s last week and saw a heartbeat, so we are praying for the baby to stay with us!

About the hormone levels, it's always good is they double, it's actually weird that they told you otherwise. Where I live they never measure hormone levels in the blood, they just make you wait for another week and do another u/s to see if the yolk sac is growing, etc.

Hopefully everything goes alright with your pregnancy, I know a lot of women that had bleeding at some point and didn't mc.

I didn't have implantation bleeding, but took a beta at 13dpiui and it was 12.8. At 17 dpiui it was 171. My doctors said its perfectly fine to have low numbers as long as they double every couple days. Stay positive!

I had implantation bleeding.  It happened only one day, right around when I was expecting AF.  My AF always started very lightly, and got heavier throughout the day, so when I saw the spotting I used a tampon that day but later realized the discharge had stopped.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure we conceived on 8/4.  AF was due around the 11th/12th (Guessing, I never keep track).  I didn't even notice until 8/16, when I took an HPT that was VERY faintly positive.  I didn't know any better and went to have my HCG checked.  It was 20!  My LMP had been July 11th.  By the time I made it to the doctor, it HAD gone up, but I don't remember by how much (enough!).  Needless to say, all has been well.

Just my personal experience.  Good luck to you.

So I still haven't heard back from the doctor about the test! I called earlier to leave a message for the nurses and then before they closed I called the front desk. Before I could finish asking my question they transferred me to the nurse's voicemail! All I wanted to know was if the nurses were going to be making any more calls.....anyway I have an appt tomorrow which they told me I will or won't have based on these results but they never got me the results so I guess I am going either way.

Just would like some resolution: is everything ok for now, did/am I miscarrying, or is it an ectopic pregnancy? At this point they have told me those 3 options are all just as likely :-/
