Heart racing?

I am 18 weeks pregnant now and my heart is always racing it seems like. I do have anxiety and panic attacks. So that could be alot of the problem. My doctor said that there is nothing to worry about and that the racing heart wont affect my baby. But i stilll worry about it and it gets worse. At the doctor it was 130 beats per minute. Im just not convinced that it is okay to have your heart rate this high. My ekg was normal. But at what point would your doctor prescribe medication for it. I worry about it every day even though i shouldnt. And i have palpitations where i become really aware of it racing. Who else has this? what did your doctor do for it?

There is another post a few down on this page addressing this exact same thing. I would go take a look and chime in there. And ftr, what kind of medication would you need for a racing heart? If you have anxiety and panic attacks than you should know that this would be the cause.

Some heart racing is normal as your blood volume increases. I have it on and off and my midwife said as long as it didn't last a really long time and didn't happen every day then it was considered normal. However, if it did then I would be sent to a cardiologist. I too have anxiety--are you taking any medication for that? If not, it is okay to take zoloft, as it is the most pregnancy-safe anti-anxiety out there right now. Your anxiety might actually be making your heart racing worse...I'd talk to your doc about it and if you need to, get a second opinion. Good luck.

I am taking zoloft and it hasnt had time to start working yet. I Think that my anxiety  will get bettter with it and maybe the heart racing will get better when the anxiety does

I've noticed my heart racing too. I usually notice it when I finally get to sit down and relax at night. I've mentioned it to my doctor and she also told me not to worry about it. I think sometimes stressing out about it could make it worse. Maybe you should try your best to not think about it and try to occupy your mind with something else. Best of luck to you and I hope you feel better about it soon!

I know exactly what your going through at the moment! This is my third day of taking zoloft...and I'm hoping it starts working soon! Waking up everynight with heart palpatations...is pretty scary!! It's only recently it has all come back again!! Had palpataions carrying my last two children...wich was over 10 years ago now! Didn't think i would ever suffer again! Was on paroxetine for 13years,came off it last summer cold turkey don't think I done myself any favours by doing so! As for the last 6 weeks, have been really bad...with my anxiety again! Just to let you know...you are not alone! And i hope you feel better real soon!
