Feeding Longer?

My 1 month old has recently started to breastfeed longer, taking 45 minutes to an hour for both sides, when before he would take 20-30 minutes. Is this a sign of a growth spurt? He feeds about every 2-3 hours during the day, and anywhere from 4-6 hours at night (which the pediatrician told me was okay, as he is gaining weight)

My pediatrician said that more than 1520 minutes per side they are most likely using you as a pacifier. Is she actively sucking the entire time? I switch sides after 20 minutes. I've heard more frequent feeding not longer can indicate a growth spurt. I suggest you ask her doctor at your next appointment.
