Comments on Walter, Asa, Conrad, etc.

Recently got the green light for TTC, so hopefully I'll be posting around here more!

I've got a girls' list a mile long, but no boys' names that I love. I'd really appreciate comments on these like-but-not-love names so that I can talk myself into/out of them. DD is Amalia.

Thanks for the help, and don't hold back — I have a thick skin and am not attached to any of these options.

The only one I don't like is Julian. Too feminine and I dont like the nickname "jules" at all on a boy.

Arthur - I like older traditional names, but I just can't get on board with this one. It was my grandfather's name and I only remember him as being really harsh and unemotional.

I love Arthur, Walter, Solomon, Conrad, Philip. They seem timeless and balanced between strength, classic feel, and distinction. Arthur and Walter are on my personal short list. Conrad and Solomon would each be on there if I didn't know a Conrad who broke my friend's heart in a horrible way and if Solomon sounded the least bit okay with our LN.

Julian is great but feels young to me from hearing it a lot lately. 

Asa, Frederick, Martin are good solid names. In fact, I'd probably gush over them if they weren't a part of this list. I just like them less. Asa feels like hardly a name and the other two are too dry and boring.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Of these, Asa is probably my favorite, but it's too close to Amalia for me to get really excited about it. Conrad is DH's grandfather's name, which is nice, but he hated his own name and went by something completely different. I like Walter and Walt, but DH's mn is Walton, so if we go that route we'll probably use that instead.

Blah. I don't love anything. If hypothetical baby #2 is a boy, this process will be long and unsatisfying.
