Isn't this treatable?  Why does the dog need to go?

What?  Why?  Hookworms are treatable, but can be serious. I think you need to be a little more sympathetic to the dog and your sister, and less "freaking out."

Dude, chillax. Treat the worms and you'll be fine.

Chill out. Hookworms are totally treatable. It just takes a week or two of pills and they are all gone. Maybe you should learn to take some time to actually investigate and talk about things before you jump to conclusions.

No need to freak out. Treat the worms and all will be fine.  Sucky for the dog and sis that you are so quick to boot the pooch.

Don't make out with the dog and you won't get worms. Just get your sister to treat it and it's nbd really.

Have you been licking the dogs ass? Is that why you're freaking out?

It's definitely treatable.
They normally give you a pill or liquid medicine you give your dog once a day, and it should clear up in 1-2 weeks. Nothing to be worried about.
Just make sure after handling the dog, or it's food dishes you wash your hands thoroughly.

This. OP, you're an idiot. Have your sister treat her dog. Stop being a drama queen.

Ditto everyone else. Treat it, move on. Why the heck would get rid of the dog?

Hookworms are pretty common in young dogs. Get the dog on a dewormer and don't play with his poop. Why are you freaking out?

I really hope this is MUD. My biggest pet peeve is people that have pets and then get rid of them b/c of ridiculous reasons (like this one). I treat my pets like they are my children and would never in a million years get rid of them b/c they have a health issue. You, OP, are a total jerk.

I'm glad you don't want to do any research before saying "bye bye doggie".

I think this is a fake post. Almost every dog owner I know understands that hookworms are treatable. She just wants to rile the pet lovers.

UMMM OK ladies for you idiots that called me an idiot you can calm the hell down. 1st off the well being of my child is more important to my than a dog. i dont care how you feel. i was just wondering if what i GOOGLED/RESEARCHED was true!!!

And yes i googled this before i posted and they said this could leave to brain bleeding and other severe things to the baby! The last time i checked i was on a baby board for support.

Thank you to the ladies that answered and help calm me down!! Screw you to the ones who had harsh things to say!

i dont care how you feel.

You don't care how we feel, yet you posted on an internet message board asking for advice.  Makes sense.

I'm starting to think you should get rid of the dog-- it sounds like it'd be better off in another home.

Obviously you didn't do adequate research. Hookworms are treatable.
