Does anyone care for this name? I feel like it's poised to make a comeback, if it hasn't already.
I would consider it myself if it weren't too cutesy to name a child Francine when we're living in France... (And maybe it has only grown on me because I am thinking of it pronounced with a French accent.)
Aurthers friend on the PBS kids show? HEY!
Don't hate it, but don't think it will make a huge comeback any time soon. I do hate the NN's that come from it (Fran or Fanny)

This exactly! Francine is okay on its own, but Fran is a horrendous name.

But Frannie/Franny is cute. I'm thinking of Salinger's "Franny and Zooey," although Franny wasn't perhaps the sanest character in English literature.
Although in general older names are making a comeback, I don't think Francine will ever hit the top ten again. At least not anytime in the relatively near future. I also dislike Fran/Franny.
