CPCs

Has anyone had experience with a CPC diagnosis? We had our a/s yesterday (Team Blue!) but he has a CPC on his left side. I had never heard of this, so of course I panicked, then spent most of the day on Dr. Google. Seems like most cases are positive, but it's always nice to read that other people have been in the same boat and have had healthy babies. I saw a specialist for a more in-depth u/s yesterday -- they did not see any other issues with the baby, so we are hoping to be in the clear. I had blood drawn for the quad screen yesterday - the office only calls with bad news, so I'll be calling the office late next week for results/reassurance!!! :)

Yes, my DS had several at the 20 week ultrasound, but no other signs were present. We had a Level II ultrasound 4 weeks later (after worrying for four weeks) and they were all gone. I'm sure your little guy will be just fine. My cousin is a brain surgeon at John's Hopkins and after my diagnosis with my DS, he practically laughed (well, not really), but he said that they are so common and just seen more now due to the ultrasound technology improving. He said they really aren't a concern unless other things are present and more than likely we all have had them, they just weren't seen previously. GL to your little man!

I forgot to add (and I don't know how to edit, duh), my DS is almost 3 and is extremely smart. He's been talking in sentences since he turned two and has been advanced at almost everything he does. He definitely didn't get his smarts from me or his dad! I actually read some studies about CPCs and increased IQ so maybe your little guy will just be a brainiac :)

We had it diagnosed at 18w5d, and it was gone a couple of weeks later.

SO so so glad you ladies have had success stories! It's encouraging. My doc also mentioned that he feels it's mostly due to advancing technology - now we are just seeing things that we couldn't before. I can't believe you had to wait 4 weeks!! I was scheduled for 2 weeks from today, but when I called the specialist's office to get more info, they had just had a cancellation. I was so grateful. Thanks for sharing your successes!

My DD had them at the a/s, had a follow up level II ultrasound at 22 weeks and they were gone.  No other markers and she's a perfect sassy 2 year old.

We were diagnosed with a CPC at 18.5 weeks with DS1, went in for a 2nd level ultrasound at 23 weeks and it was gone.  Fast forward to this pregnancy, i went in for my A/S at 18.5 weeks and we were all good, went in to an sonography class because they needed a pt at 22 weeks and they found one.  I go in to the specialist again next week, just to make sure all is in the clear.

From my experience they cause more worry to the parents than anything, the dr's all blow it off like it's no big deal!  Stay positive and try not to worry!
