Any one still nursing?

We still are. I said we'd start weaning if LO hadn't already done so at 18 months. It's just so hard because it's magic in calming him down if he is ever upset and gets him to fall asleep in a snap. But, I'm getting to the point where I want to be done. I'm so tired of wearing nursing bras and v-necks. I keep hoping he will self wean, but he nurses 4 to 5 times in 24 hours still so that doesn't seem likely. Anyone still nursing - how long to you plan to go for?

I would still be nursing if I hadn't gotten so sick with my pregnancy. I just couldn't keep my supply up when I couldn't eat anything.  I miss it so much. I'm totally jealous of you right now. :(

But I know I will have it back soon...

I'm still nursing Chase morning, night, and when he gets up in the middle of the night.  It is a really easy way to comfort him when he's upset, or get him to sleep.  I originally said when he could verbally ask for it, I would wean.  Well, he now says "Milk please" and I'm not ready to wean.  My goal is 2 years.  Then we'll be done.

If you had posted this question 10 days ago, I would have said yes.  But we went cold turkey 10 days ago and I can tell you that weaning is not for the faint of heart!  That said, I was finally able to do bedtime tonight without her asking for milk...

I'm still nursing.  Genevieve doesn't seem to be showing any signs of wanting to wean.  She nurses 3-6 times in 24 hours.

My plan is to let her self wean with a goal of making it to 2 years (following WHO recommendations).  After my m/c I started limiting night nursing to at least 6 hours apart because I am exhausted.

We're not, but I wanted to say good job for making it this long!  If I was a SAHM I probably would have continued longer, but we were done at 14 months. At that point I was only nursing him in the morning and I had quit pumping at work so I think my supply was about done.  We didn't really have to do any weaning - on his 14 month birthday he just didn't want to nurse, so that was it. I hope you are able to continue as long as you would like to and that weaning is an easy process for you.  Smile

I'm still nursing at least three times a day. I plan on quitting in time for him to attend Yale Wink

Actually, I have a trip in March (hopefully to launch my second book), so I'm guessing that's when we'll wean.

Good on you mamas still going!! DD self weaned very slowly when I got pregnant, finally stopping fully at 17 months. The slow wean for us was a great transition, my boobs didn't have any discomfort and I honestly don't think DD even noticed when we finally stopped her last remaining morning session.

This was how I hoped/hope it will go for us (not the pregnant part! This momma wanted four kids pre-kid and now I'm thinking we might be one and done!). I want him to be ready, but I don't want it to be a difficult transition. We have some travel and moving coming up so I think I'll reassess once he's 2 with the hopes that he will have already started the self weaning process.

I just weaned my daughter 3 weeks ago - she went to her Oma's house with DH for a week and when she got back, she was over it!
I sure miss it, but also I am really enjoying the "freedom".

Good to know I am not the only one. DS is 19 months and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. I haven't pumped since his first birthday last April and I work full time as a kindergarten teacher. I don't know how there is still any milk, but it is the fastest way to calm him. I work in a year-round school and am tracked out right now (3 weeks off) and he's loved having me around during the day. By 2 years- we will be done (I HOPE!) We need to all reconvene in a few months to share weaning stories because this time around is so different than my daughter who weaned herself cold turkey. Way to go mamas!

We are, I'd love for him to wean by the time #2 shows up, but I won't force it.

Please forgive my typos! I'm not as dumb as my iphone would like you to believe :)

We are still, and I don't expect that we'll wean anytime soon.  I expect we'll go well into the 2's and maybe 3, but I guess we'll see what he thinks, maybe he'll surprise me and want to be done sooner.  I helped my DD wean when she was 3y10mo (I was ready to be done then), though she would have loved to continue, so sometimes they just really love/need/want it for a long time.
The book "How Weaning Happens" is really good.  Def check it out!

We are! DD still nurses 4-6 times a day. I'm not planning to wean her til she's at least 2, maybe 2 1/2. I am pretty much going to let her self-wean, but I don't really think I want to keep nursing her once she's closer to 3. We'll see though! I do just wish she'd sttn though.
