Baby still refuses to drink liquids out of sippy cut

Do any of you have the same experience? My son simply doesn't want to learn how to sip from his sippy cup. He was always BF still is... He never wanted to drink from the bottle, take a pacifier and now just sits and chews on his sippy cup.

What can I do? I am so frustrated because I am forced to give him water and juice from his spoon. And I just want him to enjoy his liquids normally.

Thanks in advance.

Sippys are just like bottles and pacifiers, it's all about finding the right one.

DD is EBF too and we have tried 4 different sippy styles and the only one she will take is the strwa style. Have you tried one of those? Playtex makes one that you can squeeze the bottom to help the liquid up the straw while LO is still learning. DD took a few days but she loves it now and she will drink from any normal cup and straw too.

straw cups also worked for my DS1, who took forever to figure out how to drink from a regular cup. GL!

We seriously went through at least 10 sippy cups with ds before we found one he liked.  Even then it was slow going.  Try out a few and see if there's any interest in different kinds.  If he's not used to a bottle, you'll probably have to help a bit so he gets the idea of tipping it.  It will happen, and until then it is really no biggie if he's nursing fine.

We're still having this problem!  I'm glad you posted this. I've heard to try straw cups so we're starting to test different ones out. My girls wont even drink water or watered down juice. They hate anything that isn't their formula. UGGGH!

We had to try different brands before we found the one that DS would use.  Even then, it took him a little while to like it.  DH also sometimes hops a cup of water up to his mouth and he drinks just fine like that.  Maybe something to try?

thank you all for responses. I have bought a straw sippy cup and it's now been 3 days but he still just chews on it :( I did not find the straw sippy cup that can be slightly squeezed from the bottom to help drink. So I am still waiting.

I am glad it's a normal thing and all of you have similar experiences. That goes to show that it's absolutely fine and they just need time :)

My second son never did use a bottle or sippy cup. He just flat out refused. He was drinking out of a regular cup at one year. My motto for a long time was 'its only water, he will dry'.
