Taking your newborn to Thanksgiving get togethers tomorrow?

Are you planning on taking your newborn out to a big family get together tomorrow? Anyone not doing this because of germ concerns?  Or am I the only paranoid one? lol

We are going and my son is only a week. You have to do what you are comfortable with but I figure he will be sleeping 90% of the time and the people that hold him know to wash their hands.

Dd will be 3 days old tomorrow and we are going to thanksgiving dinner at family's house. But I have a 2 year old DD with a cold already so I figure the family might actually be less germy than our house currently. Lol.

Plus I have respectful family members that aren't overbearing and would never compromise my child's safety. They would stay home from thanksgiving themselves if they thought they would get her sick. I know not everyone's families are like that though unfortunately.

Our little one is 3 weeks old and we are going to 3 different family homes. However, we are being open minded and may have to cancel a visit or two or even stay only for a short time depending on how baby does. Yes we are making sure everyone washes hands before they hold baby but we too are hoping baby sleeps a lot.

That is very true! It's nice to have family that understands why you need to not have anyone sick around baby. I know they feel bad when they can't see or hold baby but its just the way it has to be. Hopefully you have recovered well yourself with only a 3 day old.

LO is almost three weeks and we are staying home. I won't be taking him anywhere until at least four weeks, maybe six. Once I heard about the automatic spinal tap for young babies with fevers I became a bit paranoid...

I think a short visit would be fine as long as there is no one sick around.

We are taking DD with us to DH's uncle's house. There will be less than 10 people there and DS is the only other kid so I feel okay about it. I'm driving separately though in case I want to leave early.

I think with 1 there is more likely to be paranoia.

With our 1 we were out shopping/dining day 4. With 2 it was day 7.

We adopt. So we are in hotels, stores, restaurants for the first couple of weeks with current 40 days out of state in hotel.

Also having a 3 year old who picks up every germ known but rarely sick hsrlf he just passes it along to everyone else I'm less concerned with germs.

Go have fun!

Yep. We are going to our 50 person gathering. Our pedi said to not pass her around too much and our family is thoughtful. I had people avoid me if they were sick when I was pregnant so no sicky will grab my baby and run. I would go enjoy and keep her with you. We went to a friends giving on Saturday and only DH and I held her and it was fine. But of course if you are too nervous, stay home. Do what works for you.

We just went to my parents house.  They have been pretty adament about hand washing/anti bac though.  I think I would have been nervous in a larger setting.
