SA results - what do you think?

My husband went for his first SA at the end of October and we were told by our GP that everything came back normal except the motility. She said the motility was low because the sample wasn't kept warm enough. The RE said that the motility was low and it was a concern but wouldn't discuss anything with us.

Here are the results, what do you think?

Liquefaction; Seminal Fld Complete
Viscosity; Seminal Fld Normal
Colour; Seminal Fld Normal
Specimen Volume; Seminal Fld 2.3
Sperm Concentration 83.0
Total Sperm Count/Ejaculate 190.9
Motility L 23
Motility Progressive L 15
Sperm Viability 66
Morphology 13

The report says that it used the Stict (Kruger) Criteria, but I'm not sure what that means. Any thoughts?

The motility is low, but the count is really high which could help overcome some of the the motility.

With numbers like these he will need a second SA to confirm.

your DH should start taking a multivitamin, and he should ask his doctor about starting CoQ10.

I asked our GP if he should take a multivitamin and she had said no, but I'll ask the RE during our follow up appointment.

What is CoQ10, I've never heard of it?

honestly, I have no idea, but it is in the vitamin aisle. I think Target even has chewables of CoQ10. DH's urologist suggested it for the 3 months we waited for his follow-up. His numbers went up, but I don't know if it help or there were other environmental issues.

ETA: when I say his numbers I mean his count and motility, but his morph remained low.

Agreed. At 83M/mL, motility isn't as much of a factor, especially considering morph is high, so they're moving and in good 'shape' to get the job done. Generally, supplements increase count overall, which means that motility and morph won't change much. I would agree with a second SA, and do some research on motility specifically (I have not, as our low numbers were across the board). Your OB/RE (whoever ordered testing) may have a referral for an MFI URO if your research suggests one may be helpful.

Wow way better numbers than we ever saw! I agree with the ladies, motility is very low. If keeping it warm is issue Put the sample in your bra between breasts until you get to clinic than put in bag to give to them. After a bazillion samples we have had to give it works like a charm everytime.

I would suggest doing another sample in a few weeks see if motility is the same. Could be a fluke. Best of luck, pm if ya have any questions.

The directions for DH's SA said to keep the sample warm by holding it against your skin under your undergarments (I joked with DH that he had to carry the cup in his underwear).  Every time we have had to transport a sample, I held it under my shirt against my skin.

Mr Hubs has diabetes so multivitamins play with his sugar levels.
