So I went to the ER ...

... because my spotting became more flow like and the cramping more intense. 8 hours later I was told I have a UTI. My hcg levels on  nov 8 were 248.4 and yesterday they were 322.3. This, as well as not being able to find the baby during two ultrasounds makes the doctors believe I am not 7 weeks, but more like 4 weeks. They were able to eliminate ectopic pregnancy and I have to come back on saturday for another blood test to confirm hcg level are rising. I also have another infection but it cannot be treated until the second trimester. I am just so scared at this point. T&Ps please. Thank you for the advice to go to the ER ladies.

Did they give you any indication as to what may be going on?  Even not being as far along as you thought, to have a beta of 248 2 weeks ago and to have one yesterday of 322 is quite puzzling....

Truthfully, and I don't mean to alarm you, but those numbers aren't good.  Ideally your numbers should double ever 48-72 hours, so again 2 weeks ago if your number was 248 it should have been ~500 48-72 hours later...then 1000, and on and on.  Are you getting + HPTs at home?  Are you getting another U/S on Saturday also?

In part because ER docs really don't know how to interpret those results. The fact that they told you that you were 4 weeks when you had betas of 248 2 weeks ago should tell you that much.

Most likely one of two things is going on. 1) Things are not progressing correctly and you may be headed for a miscarriage 2) You had multiples and lost one and may not be quite as far along as you though you were. If there is a chance you could actually be closer to 5-6 weeks instead of 7, the second scenario has a better chance of being the case. At 3-4 weeks you could have betas in the 200s with multiples and being 5-6 weeks now would make sense why you weren't able to see much. Did they at least find a sac?

Truthfully, and I don't mean to alarm you, but those numbers aren't good.  Ideally your numbers should double ever 48-72 hours, so again 2 weeks ago if your number was 248 it should have been ~500 48-72 hours later...then 1000, and on and on.  Are you getting + HPTs at home?  Are you getting another U/S on Saturday also?

 

 

I am getting a blood test to see where my numbers are (to confirm if they are going up or down) and depending on that I may have a U/S. Yes I am getting possitive HPT

I agree with a pp.... Your levels should have gone up way more then that in two weeks. With levels that low with camping, bleeding, and not being able to find the baby on th us I would say this is probably not the best news. :( hope I'm wrong. Best wishes

Positive pregnancy test does not mean much. I had positive tests for 2 weeks after my confirmed mc. It will continue to be positive until your levels dropp below 5 hcg. Which is why a positive test does not confirm a healthy pregnancy. You will only know after seeing your betas on sat. If they didn't double then I'm sorry :(

When you go back to the hospital make sure they do another ultrasound, and make sure it's an internal.  When I had my etopic it took two ultrasounds and multiple blood tests before they figured it out, and it was the internal ultrasound that caught it.  I will be praying for you and I hope there is a posititve explaination.

No. But they said its bc I'm early in my pregnancy ....

In all honesty, this pregnancy is not going to be viable. I say that bluntly, but only because I've been there. It is not possible for you to only be 4 weeks if you had a positive blood test 2 weeks ago. Your levels should be in the thousands by now. In all likelihood, your bleeding with pick up in the next week or so, and you will miscarry naturally. I'm sorry. I'm sure this sounds harsh, and it is not meant to. I've been there multiple times, and I know how horrible it is.

Thank you. Everything I have been told has been so very vague. At least youre being straight forward. I havent given DH the details of what I am experiencing today and I dont really know how to tell him bc I dont know a 100% what is going on.

I don't even have a doctor yet. My first appointment is Wednesday and now I don't even know if I should bother going.

i felt the same way! Almost the exact same thing happened to me. You should still go no matter what. If you are having a mc they need to make sure that everything passed on its own and that everything looks good. Plus you will probably have a lot of questions about when you can try agin, etc. still go. I know it's hard but it is important. T&Ps.
