Mary-Kate??

Is the name Mary-Kate still too Olsen twin-esque???? I thought maybe there was a big enough age gap between the celebrity and my LO that there wouldn't be a strong name association by the time she was in school....yes, no??

Probably most kids your child's age will not have that thought, although all their parents probably will.

What about just Mary? I think it is so lovely and classic.

I think Mary-Kate is very pretty.  I don't think the olsen connection matters.

I would not pick it due to the Olsen twin, though your daughter's classmates probably won't have the same association.

Mary-Kate is darling, but I immediately thought "and Ashley?"  Depends on how much it bothers you - parents/teachers/etc will definitely think of it.  Does it matter to you?  If not, go for it.

As long as you don't have or plan to have an Ashley or the last name of Olsen, I think you'll be just fine.

I think it's a really pretty name. Kids would never make a connection but most adults probably would. I have to say as soon as I saw Mary- Kate I thought (and Ashley). That doesn't mean it's not nice though

Just seeing the name of the thread I thought Olsen.

But as PP have said, your child's peer group won't make that association. The more time passes the less even the adults will make that association - the Olsen twins really haven't been in the limelight lately, so yes there will always be the Full House association, but it's not like they're still staring in TV shows.

The name is pretty but nms

This. Also now that they have both been messed up in media and drugs and older men..I think the association is worse then when they were just cute little girls who had thier own videos.

I think its a really great name shouldn't be counted out BC of the Olsen's. Its not like its an obscure name like Oprah, or something.
