BFP Or BCP Mind Fluck?

Today should be the last day of my period but I haven't even started yet. I went off the pill in September and I know it takes a while for your body to regulate, but how late can I be before its more likely a BFP instead of post BCP hormone turmoil?

I haven't tested because quite frankly I'm enjoying the idea that I just might be pregnant and I don't want to see a negative test just yet. DH and I aren't really TTC yet, but the alternate forms of BC are ending in a lot of unprotected sex.

I know its possible that I could be pregnant, but my question is really how late can my period be if I'm not?

There is no answer to your question. Your new of bcp your cycle can be 30 days it can be 90 days. We can't tell you. You don't know if you "late" because you don't know if/when you ovulated.
You can decide not to test, and see if your period comes. It could be tommorrow it could be in 2 months or if your pregnant it won't come at all.

My suggestion if you period comes chart and temp at fertilityfriend.com. Then you will know if you are actually late.

Years late is possible.

Months late is more possible.

Weeks late is quite probable.

You could have a naturally longer cycle that was shortened due to BC. It's possible that you aren't really "late". The only way to get an answer is to take a test.

This. There are many women around here who've experienced long cycles coming off BCP.

A BFP or after 60 days call your Dr.

That's the only advice I have.

I usually just lurk here, but I just wanted to offer my experience.

My first cycle off the pill, I didn't get my period until CD 34... After having so many 28 day cycles on the pill it really messed with my head. I thought for sure I was pregnant, had symptoms and all. Turns out it was just really intense pms!

Good luck!

This.

My first four cycles off the pill were semi-normal - less than a week "late" each time (and by late, I mean later than I expected).  Then I had a 63,115, and 58 day cycle.  Going off BCP can make your body wonky for awhile.

If, after 60 days, you haven't seen a + or your period, call your doctor to help jumpstart your cycle.  Also, remember, a lot of women do not actually have 28 day cycles - birth control forces them to be that short, but naturally a normal cycle can be anywhere from 25-45ish days per cycle.

To go off of this - my first month off BCP my cycle was 58 days. Second cycle 38 days. Currently on third cycle, day 30.

If I had to guess, I would guess you are not pregnant. But test to be sure. GL.

For me, I had the perfect 28 day cycle on the pill. After 'missing' my AF, we chose to go off the pill and start trying sooner. So my first cycle was 56 days, and AF came the exact day it would have had I still been on the pill. For now it looks like I have 31 day cycles, we'll see how long that lasts.

preBCP I had 5-6week cycles, then perfect pill cycles for 5 years, ended the pill, had a 35 day, then a 46 day which I tested and got 3 BFN because of my impatience...first few cycles will be weird, wait it out if you wanna, or test and cross your fingers for the best

My first cycle off of BCP was 42 days long. It's not unusual for people to have longer, or even irregular cycles after coming off BCP. You were taking a hormone that told your body what to do (and what not to do) and now your body has to figure it out on its own. Some people are lucky and are regular right away, but many are not so lucky. It's frustrating, but you just have to be patient and see if things regulate.

TTC since October 2011.
DX with Non-IR PCOS in October 2012.
Missing RIGHT tube due to a prior surgery to remove cyst-zilla (40 lbs!) at age 12.
HSG showed tube was blocked - cleared by dye. DON'T DO CLOMID WITHOUT AN HSG!
Cycle #8 with 50mg Clomid & TI = BFN
Cycle #9 with 50mg Clomid & TI = No response.
Cycle #10 with Clomid 100mg + Ovidrel shot = BFN
Cycle #11 is a break cycle. Cycle #12 is a break cycle. (The break so nice, she did it twice!)

Get out your umbrella I am about to rain hard on your parade. Umbrella

I went off BCP and was pretty convinced for the first 60 days i was pregnant.  Had phantom symptoms the works.  And now look at my ticker (points down)...here i STILL am no AF.

I am currently wait for a specialist appointment.

So here is the thing, take a test.  Wait a week test again.  At 60 days call your Doctor and don't be afraid to be pushy.  I wish i had been way more pushy,,

Good luck.

BCP - 28 day cycles

Off BCP, pre-preg - 35 day cycles

BC post preg (implanon) - no period all together

TTC after implanon - 50 day cycles, so far. That doesn't mean this month I won't have a 26 day cycle, a 62 day cycle, etc.  Good luck!

If you aren't charting/temping, this would be a good reason to start. It's the reason I started, when CD30 hit and my period was nowhere in sight. I also threw in OPKs last cycle when temps hadn't confirmed O by CD27.

First cycle off BCP - 61 days.

Second cycle off BCP - 44 days.

Currently on cycle #3, we'll see how it goes.

It's a mind game, and takes a lot of patience. If you are charting/temping or using OPKs, you can at least start making the most of those long cycles.

Good luck.
