Boy & Girl Names

What do you think about keeping names in the family?

 

If we have a boy it will be Jacob Jon McELroy - Jacob after the Daddy and Jon after the men in my family.

If we have a girl it will be Hannah May McELroy - May after my middle name.

   -Opinions on the names chosen?? (:

I like the girl name, but the double J sound with the short names sounds kind of harsh to me...almost hard to say, too, if I say it out loud. I might choose one of those names instead of using them together.

I like both of the names but I am not a fan of children having the same name as a parent. It is confusing at family functions and the kiddo should have his/her own name and own identity. Anyway - just my two cents!

As names I like them both.  But I also hate naming kids after the parents.  It always seems a bit self-involved to me.  I think each person deserves their own name.

ETA: I don't have a problem with using family names and naming your child to honor your parents or someone who's passed away (although I prefer to use those names as MNs). I just don't understand naming your kid after yourself.

This. I much prefer family names to come from relatives that are NOT the parents. 

Those are both nice names though.

I like Jacob Jon! 

Hannah Mae is fine.  They are nice feminine names, just not my style.  I'm a fan of much stronger female names.
