overdue...waiting for a vbac

I am 2 days past my due date, and getting worried that I won't go into labor. I go on Monday to see how baby is doing, check fluid levels, etc.

We will probably have the dreaded conversation about how long they will let me go before they cut me open. I'm not sure what direction I should choose....since OB doesn't induce vbac patients other than breaking water or maybe a small "whiff" of pitocin. Should I put myself through that, or just opt for a c section in about a week? Anyone out there who has been in a similar situation with some advice?

Hope I magically go into labor on my own, but I'm starting to have doubts.

For me it would depend on my bishop score. My OB and hospital induce with pit at 413 though. How sure are you on your dates?

I hope you go into labor very soon! It's like you get all amped up to have a vbac and then everything is so contingent on going into labor during one certain week. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone. I will have to ask my doctor about bishop score. All I know is that last week I was 3 cm 80% effaced. I thought I was due Nov 3, but they moved back my due date to 23 in my very first scan, so I don't think I'm too early, unfortunately :( Thanks for the good thoughts. I'll update either way, for those who are looking into VBAC situations.

It would depend on the situation and what my Bishop's score was as to whether I'd try to induce or opt for a RCS.  I REALLY want a VBAC, but I'm not going to put myself or my baby at an increased risk if an induction isn't even likely to work out and it's going to be a long road.  However, keep in mind that in most cases it's perfectly safe and normal for baby to stay in for 42 weeks and 98% of women will go into labor by that point.  You still have time and things could get started at any time.  ::labor dust!:: :)

I opted for induction at 41w2d for medical reasons (roughly a 2 on fluid levels, two failed NSTs, failed BPP, etc).

My first c/s was a failed post-dates induction, but I still opted for VBAC induction.  I was not favorable for induction, but my MW was willing to try.  If I went for a c/s, I wanted no doubt in my mind that I tried everything possible.  It worked, but I had a very patient midwife and the hospital was not restrictive with pit.  I think I would feel the same way even if my VBAC was not successful though.

(I was a tight 1, less than 50% and baby was very high)

Oh my goodness - start trying everything you can to go into labor by yourself!  Accupunture, accupressure, blue and black cohosh tea, castor oil (although this is the worst), nipple stimulation/pumping regularly... those are the ones I did off the top of my head with DS#1.

Have your membranes stripped a few times.  If you are serious about wanting a VBAC, you have options.  My midwives will do this all with me again if I'm at the 40 week mark since they don't induce.
