Fell last night... What to do?

So last night, I got up in the middle of the night from acid, was in my living room and forgot we had rolled up a rug. I tripped over it. I did not fall hard, and mostly fell on the rug. I landed on my hands and knees, didn't hit anything. The only part that hurt was my knee which hit the hard floor under the rug (which has no bruising, tenderness, or pain whatsoever). But my right foot is KILLING me. I was surprised when I woke up and realized my foot still hurt. I'm limping, can't wear shoes, I am still walking around the house. It hurts to flex my foot in any direction, but there's no bruising or swelling.

I hate going to the doctor, and even worse to an ER or urgent care.

Im starting to wonder if I should go, though. I am only about 24 weeks, but I normally feel the baby quite a bit. Today I haven't felt her a whole lot, but she has moves when I'm laying still.

ni cramping. No spotting. No discharge. No red flags. Just a quiet baby and a lot of foot/ankle pain, which I have not taken medicine for. Thoughts, ladies?

If you're worried about the baby call your OB or midwife's after-hours/emergency line. As far as your foot goes, have you tried ice/elevation/wrapping it? Has it gotten worse or better? If it's getting worse, I would call your doctor.

ETA: Hope all goes well and you feel better soon.

I fell in the shower at about 19 weeks and after waiting a few hours to see if my usually active baby would wake up, I finally went to the ER. They found a heartbeat as soon as they looked and said it was probably my stress from the fall getting to her and making her inactive. I know my husband and I were both wrecks until we heard that little heart going strong! I would say that if you are anxious at all then GO! Especially if you are hurting. Better safe than sorry!

GL!

Your baby is fine. You need to understand how much padding surrounds it.

I fell once and somehow managed to get a hairline fracture in my foot. If your foot is still bothering you tomorrow, you might want to get it checked out.

Per the baby, she is probably fine as she is well-cushioned  in there. You aren't far enough along to do kick counts so as long as you still feel her moving -- I'd say that's a great sign all is well with her.

{EDIT: You are better off going with what the L&D nurse says further down in the comments. Big Smile]

I'd be more worried about your foot. Go to urgent care and get it checked out. It's either sprained or broken somewhere.

Generally speaking, what I have always read is that if the mother isn't hurt, the baby isn't hurt.  Your body is pretty good at protecting the baby from minor bumps and falls.  You did not land on your tummy, baby should be fine.

No one can tell you if your baby is fine. If you think something is wrong, get checked out.

I work in L&D and it is always a good idea to get checked out after a fall. If your foot is till bothering you, you can see your PCP for that. But always good idea to get baby checked out. Hope you feel better.

i fell straight on my ass from a height of about 3-4 feet (i was sitting in this hammock type thing that fell) and bruised my tailbone pretty bad at around 22 weeks. i called L&D and they told me the signs to look for and said to come in if any pain in my belly or gush of water or blood, i was mostly just shaken up, and had an OB appt the next day, so they were ok with me waiting since i didn't hit my belly at all and had no signs of distress, then about a half hour later when I calmed down I felt baby moving so I felt very comforted by that. baby is probably fine, but I wouldn't hesitate to call L&D just so doctor is aware of it at least.

Sorry about your fall, but I think you are panicking about baby. I'm sure LO is just fine if you didn't fall on your stomach :)

I fell down a flight of stairs when I was 6 months pregnant. The baby was fine.  It sounds like you didn't even hit your belly? I would be more worried about your foot.  I
