Addison Rose or Annabel Ruth?

Sorry if this is bloggy.  We don't know sex of the baby yet but I'm trying to narrow down my choices.  Pretty sure a boy would be Malcolm George (my grandfather, DH's grandfather), nn Cole.

I'm torn with girl names.  I've always thought my daughter's mn would be Ruth (my mn, my mom's fn, my maternal grandmother's name).  Addison is meaningful to me (it's a combo of my mom's maiden name and my maiden name) but DH would want to honor his family with mn, so we thought Rose (his mom's mn).  We're both worried that Addison (nn Addie) is too popular.

I also like the name Annabel (no family significance) which would allow me to keep Ruth as the mn.

Is Addison too popular?  Screw popularity and go with two names with family significance?   Are there any other 3 syllable classic-style "A" girl names that I'm missing?

 Addison Rose or Annabel Ruth?

I don't like Addison or Ruth, so my vote is for Annabel Rose, though I do appreciate the family significance of Ruth, and MNs are rarely used anyway.

I love Annabel Ruth. And Malcolm George is great!

I really like the significance of Ruth and would probably want to keep that in the family.

I also wouldn't worry about popularity that much if it were a meaningful name.

Sorry, I know I wasn't very helpful!

Annabel. Either MN. Addison is just too trendy for me, even with significance.

Adeline, Annabeth, Angeline, Annemarie, Annalise, Aurelia (3 syllables depending on pronunciation), Althea, Abigail, Amelia, Audrina, Adria, Adelaide, Angelique, Alicia, Augusta, Adela, Ariane, Allison, Alaina

Thanks for these other names!  My favorites from this list are Abigail and Amelia, both names that I'm thinking are too popular for us.

I'm really appreciating all the thoughts here.  Annabel Rose is not an option but it's sounding like Annabel is winning over Addison, so that helps to gauge others' opinions.

I like Annabel Ruth, especially because it continues a naming "tradition". Other A names that you may wish to consider:

Adelaide
Alice
Annette love this one!
Amelia

FWIW, I think Ruth and Rose paid well with all of these!

If popularity is a concern, Addison is most likely not for you. It's been hovering just under #10 for 5 years now. The most popular spelling of Annabel, Annabelle, is at #111. Amelia is at #30. Both are on the rise. Abigail has held steady in the top 10 for 11 years, but I only personally know 1. I know more Annabelles and Amelias (four!) than I do Abigails. You'll want to check your specific state's numbers if you're seriously considering any of them and popularity is important :)

This is a great idea.  I've looked at so many national popularity sites, I hadn't thought to check my state.  Looks like Addison was #28 here.  Annabelle was #91 and Annabel doesn't even seem to make the top 100. Popularity isn't my #1 concern but trendiness is something I'd like to avoid (if that distinction makes sense), so thank again for the great tip!

Annabel Ruth is my favorite of the two, but I think Annabel Rose is better.  Addison is too trendy IMHO.

I really like your boy name, and I just don't think Addison Rose even touches it in terms of classiness and style.  I really like Ruth though, so I vote Annabel Ruth.

Addison is becoming too popular, and I don't even know why. Personally, I don't even like the name. Love the name Annabel and your spelling of it. I fear this too may become popular in the next few years as people have grown tired of Isabelle/Isabella but I still love it.

I like either Annabel Ruth or Annabel Rose - Annabel Ruth is a little more unique since Rose is a popular middle name

My vote is for Addison Rose. Annabel bothers me immensely. There's just something fluffy about it that I don't like. It's just TOO feminine, in my opinion. Also not a fan of Abigail. But I think I'm in the minority (on the BNB) with these thoughts. lol

I say drop Addison.  It's trendy and screams "2010s."  Annabelle is a beautiful name, and goes well with both Rose and Ruth.

I really dislike Addison on a girl.

I have a friend that named their dog Annabel, so it's forever made me think of this as an animal's name, but before the dog, I loved it.

“Alice came to a fork in the road. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' responded the Cheshire Cat. 'I don't know,' Alice answered. 'Then,' said the Cat, 'it doesn't matter.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

If you're trying to avoid trendy and pick a classic name then Addison needs to be thrown far away. It fulfills several trends: last name as first name, male name on a girl. It's not even remotely classic or feminine.

Go with Annabelle. Beauuuutiful name.

I got news for you - we are HIGHLY considering naming our daughter Anabelle too and have since learned just how popular that name is becoming! So if both names are popular I say go with the one that means the most and that you like the most!
