When to Send Invitations

I am helping to address and send out the invitations for my baby shower. The shower is on January 12th, and it is expected that about 60 people will attend (yikes!). In order to prepare enough food, and have the supplies ready for so many people, an RSVP date was suggested of December 30th (2 weeks prior). With that in mind, is December 1st too early to send out invitations? I figure with Christmas coming, everyone is very busy. I just don't want to jump the gun too much.

TIA!

My mom is planning my shower for January 20th and wants to have the invitations in the mail on Dec. 10th. We are figuring that with the holidays and everyone (including the post office) being so busy, it is best to get them out a little early this time of year. So sounds like your timeline is about the same as mine.

This is exactly my timeline as well. I agree with PP, with the holidays is okay to send invites closer to 6 weeks

The shower is AFTER the holidays, so I don't see what the holidays have to do with it.  The post office can handle your invites (good grief...)  If I got an invite to a baby shower 6 weeks in advance, I'd totally forget about it.

I think sending them in midDecember is more appropriate. 3 to 4 weeks is the norm for shower invites. No one is too busy too make a three minute RSVP phone call or email.

Edited because iPhone is a butthole.
