STM how many carseats?

I'm probably over thinking this but how many carseats do you have for your LOs?

Up until now we just had DDs convertible seat in one car and switched cars according to who was taking her I SAH so daycare drop off/pickup are not an issue. I installed the infant seat this past weekend and started thinking.....

DD moved to a convertible at 5mo due to hating the infant seat. I'm getting ready to buy this LO a convertible since they are on sale and I have my completion coupon. When both kids are in convertibles our switching car system will work EXCEPT if we each take one kiddo! We could just uninstall/reinstall the carseat but honestly they are a huge pain to get right.

Now I'm thinking I should suck it up and order 2 new convertibles at this sale price so we can have two carseats in one car and one in the other. We actually have a second base for the infant seat since the company sent two on accident so that isn't an issue.

WDYT? How many carseats do you own for 2 kids? What is your system?

We own two, one for each car. DH does most of the pick ups and drop offs, but one night a week I do pick up, so we can't really switch the car seat out. Even if we could, I'd rather fork over the money for an extra seat, than have to reinstall the seat all the time.

We will be adding an infant seat with two bases to the collection when this baby arrives. When he switches to a convertible, we will own four seats.

Well, my son has 4 different car seats. One in my car, one in my husbands car, one for my dad & one for my MIL (they each watch him 1 day a week & each bought themselves a car sear). All of us have a base for the infant seat, and only 1 infant seet for the upcoming baby.

When he grows outa that, and I'm assuming my son will still be in the convertable seat he is in now, everyone will get a 2nd convertable seat for the new baby. That will total 8 seats for 2 kids.

I don't like playing the "switch the seat between cars" game & he is in all 4 cars enough to warrent so many seats.

We have a carseat in each car for DS, and a base in each car for the infant seat. When LO moves out of the infant seat we will get 2 more convertibles, one for each vehicle.

With DS we did one infant with two bases, same with this one. When it came to convertible rear facing we just had one and would move it. When he was moved to forward facing at 2 we got another convertible that eventually switched to a high back booster. When he was big enough for booster we switched it and then bought another HB booster for DH's car.

We will eventually have 4 seats total. 2 converables in mine and 2 in DHs car. We will use the infant seat we used with DD for the new baby until sshe gets a little bigger like late spring?. So until then we will just have a base in each car for her.

I'm ordering 2 converable seats too... We love them for DD and she went from a screaming maniac to a perfect child when we made the switch! But I refuse to get an infant in and out of a seat in the snow!

Rosie has 5. We have 3 Diono Radians we just upgraded her to. One for my car, DH's car, and MIL bought one too for her car. We then gave her old Graco My Ride 65's to my Mom and FIL. It's way easier to just properly install the seat and leave it be. More so with the Diono's, they are heavy!

For little guy we have the bucket with 2 bases. So, a base for each car.

DS is now in a booster (he's 6), so we have 2 of those...one for each car.  It has come in handy on more than one occasion when DH unexpectedly picked him up or something like that.  The boosters are wayyyyy cheaper than the convertibles, but based on convenience alone, I would purchase a second for a good deal!

I stay home.  We have always just sent the kids with the car.  There are very few times we split the kids up and when we do we just change the car seat.

We have one for my car and one for DHs car. I always do daycare dropoff but sometimes he does pickup so we both need a seat.

We have a total of 3 car seats right now.  One in my van, one in DH's Jeep and the infant seat that isn't being used ATM.  One DD arrives she will use the infant seat until she out grows it, then the seat in DH's Jeep will move into the van permanently and she will be in that, and if DH needs to take the kids somewhere he will drive the van and I will take the Jeep.  If we each happen to take one child then we will just move one seat back into the Jeep.  I figure that isn't going to happen often enough to warrant purchasing a whole new seat.

We just have one carseat per kid and the kids stay with the car. Its much easier that way for us. Besides, since Im a SAHM, there isnt much need for them to be driven around by anyone other than me. Im here all the time with them

We have two convertibles right now for DS1, one in each car.  Those are staying as is.  We have his infant seat with an extra base which we'll be installing for DS2, so again, basically two car seats in each car for DS2.  So two seats in each car for both of them!

DH and I have to be really flexible with daycare pickups and/or if something random comes up (fever at daycare, etc), so this is just what works best for us.

We had one infant carrier and a base for my car and one for DH's car - our parents regularly babysit so they each had one base.

Now, since I do all of the dropping off and picking up, I have the convertible seat in my car and our parents each have one as well.  This system works well for us.  If DH gets a job closer to home we might get a convertible seat for him so he can drop off DD some mornings but it's not a big deal for me to do it.

We have 3 carrier bases - one for my car, one for DH's, and one for my mom's (who will be babysitting).  When it's time for him to move up to a bigger seat, we'll have to buy 3 seats for the same reason.  DH will be dropping him off and I'll be picking him up, so there's really no way to switch seats around.  Plus it's just not worth the hassle or the worry of wondering if it's installed right each time.

We had an infant carrier that snapped in for DD until she was able to sit up well, after which we switched to a convertible seat, which faced backward until 12 months.

We recently also bought an inexpensive second seat for DH's car for those rare times when he HAS to take her somewhere in his car...we've only used it maybe three times, but those times, if we hadn't had it, we would have been stuck.

The new LO is re-using the infant carrier seat until he is able to sit up well, at which time we will get another convertible seat for him.

We've always had one seat in each car, and with the addition of this baby, will have 2 bases, one in each car, and eventually a convertible in each car.  It's not worth the uninstall/reinstall process each time, Especially if you're in a rush.

We have 2 convertible seats, one for each of our cars but I am looking at getting another one to keep in MIL's car as well.  Then we have the infant seat with 2 bases.

eta: when the time comes to get convertible seats for this LO, we will get two for her to start, and if there become frequent times that MIL is taking both children, then I will get him a booster and use the convertible from her car for this LO.

I'm a FTM, but I'll weigh in on what we have going on:

We have an infant car seat. I will have a base in my car and my Mom will have a base in her car. We just bought a truck today and if DH is home with the baby, I'll take the truck and he will keep the car with the infant carseat. I am going to install our convertible we already have in the truck in the meantime for emergencies in case we have to do a switch for whatever reason. When baby out grows the infant, we will take the convertible which is a Britax, out of the truck and put it in our car. We are buying my Mom a smaller Britax and will then just buy a Cosco Scenera for the truck.

LO is just about 3.  We have a convertible (Britax Marathon) in my car AND in DH's truck.  We are going to use the infant seat (Chicco) until this baby hits the weight limit.  Then we will move the baby into the Britax convertibles and buy a 5 point harness booster for LO.

We have a convertible carseat in each car (2 cars) for DD (2 1/2 years) & will be using the infant car seat we used for her for the new baby. We have 2 bases for the infant car seat. So...2 car seats for DD & 1 car seat for DS. Once DS is outgrows the infant seat, we'll get 2 convertibles for him, too.

How many do we currently use, or have we bought?

We started out with just one infant car seat and a base in each car, a coworker gave me a used convertible seat that we started using around 10 months when she outgrew the infant seat and until we could find the convertible we wanted to buy. Both grandma's bought infant seats as well. We bought two convertible seats, one for each car, and then a less expensive convertible seat for each grandma. Now, we have a high back booster in both cars, and both grandmas have recently purchased the same one, though they have somehow acquired both of our nice convertible seats- but we will probably buy new convertibles once DS outgrows his infant seat. But just like DD, we have one infant seat and two bases for DS, and will probably buy two convertible seats in a year or so... And the saga continues...

One for each car.  We have just one baby bucket, two convertible seats, and now one booster.  DS rode in either the baby bucket or the convertible for the first year, then both convertibles until he was 5.  Now he uses one convertible and one high backed booster (he's only 35lbs so we will be in 5 point restraint for a while still).

I found an unexpected reason to have two seats.  My husband got in an accident and we had to get rid of the carseat.  If we hadn't had two, yikes!

Now, with another little one on the way, I'm still wanting to have a seat for each kid in each car.
