I have a Volvo XC60 (Volvo's smaller SUV/crossover) and we have the Britax Pavilion. It fits well in the backseat rear facing and should fit well forward facing (my headrests don't move either). It's a bit of a p.i.t.a rear facing but I think that's because of the slope of the back doors in the XC60. I'm guessing the doors in the XC90 are more "open" so I wouldn't imagine you'd have the same problem rear facing.
