Has anyone been a bridesmaid in their 3rd trimester??

I am only 4 months pregnant but will be nearly 9 months pregnant in may and in my sisters wedding. The dress isn't empire waist but is a little fitted after busy and then it flows. Were you in a wedding while pregnant in third trimester? Could I please see a picture of you in your bm dress to get an idea of how I will look? I know everyone is different but just to get an idea. The dress has a sweetheart neckline and then at waist the fabric is kind of rushed to the side. I will order a few sizes bigger and the seamstress seems to think taking the top in will not be a problem but I'm still nervous.

I don't have a pic but in my friends wedding the MOH was roughly 8 months pregnant with her first.

I remember she got the dress we got, then ordered a few yards (seemstress would know how much) of extra fabric and they re panneled her dress.  Ours was a square neckline and then more a line vs empire but I believe they made her's an empire waist.  (This was like 2002)

I remember it was a total PITA and her's cost almost double what mine did due the all the extra work (just an FYI), and her fittings were done like the week before the wedding to get correct sizing right.

I would take the advice of the seamstress unless it's not someone you "trust".  You might want to get recs from people in your area about a good seamstress, just to make sure.  I don't think she ordered bigger, she ordered her size and then they cut the front and added the extra fabric for her belly.

I was a BM at 37 weeks.

My dress was very high waited. It did not look like the other dress I bought maybe 5 or 6 sizes up. You get a log bigger. Can you buy extra fabric? That might be the easiest thing so you can adjust however you need.

I would think most brides would allow you to order a maternity dress in the same color as the others in order for you to be comfortable and not force you to spend $$$ on alternations.  I would be really annoyed if someone expected to me to to pay to have a regular dress altered that much...

I ordered a dress pre-pregnancy and found out I was pregnant when it came in. I was able to order extra fabric and my seamstress put a panel in a few weeks before the wedding. Good luck!

When I got engaged my sister was pregnant and I knew she would be quite far along at the time of our wedding, so the first thing I did was invite her to be a bridesmaid but told her I understand if she wasn't up for the job.  She opted out due to the circumstances but if she had decided to be in the wedding, I think I would have selected the colors for the bridesmaid dresses and then let each girl select the style/cut of dress they preferred, so that prego sister could choose something she would feel comfortable wearing with a baby bump.  It's quite common now for the dresses to match in color but be different cuts.

Good luck with the wedding...  Hopefully you feel comfortable in the dress and feeling ok.

I was in a wedding at 32 weeks with DS, we had bought the dress the previous year before we were TTC.  I think it was either a size 6 or 8 to start.  We tailored the crap out of it, and it pretty much went from a relatively fitted top a-line dress to an empire waist.  It still coordinated very well with the other dresses, and looked nice.  I can't post a pic right now, but if I get a chance later I will..

ETA:  Pics (ignore my goofball husband, lol)  The last one is of the original dress, so that you can compare what I purchased vs. what I ended up wearing.  Oh, and we ended up purchasing a couple of yards of the material from the dress company so that we had extra to add an extra panel to my dress.  That's what the seamstress did, she basically separated the front of the dress, added a panel and sewed it all back together.  She was amazing.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I was in my sister's wedding this summer. I was only 17 weeks, but I got big way faster than I expected and the dress I ordered was way too small (I ordered it 2 sizes bigger). We ordered through David's Bridal, and they were actually very understanding and let me exchange it for a bigger size despite their no exchanges policy. I'd ask at the dress shop if they'll let you exchange it last minute if necessary. And then don't make any alterations until close to the end.

Or I'd order a super huge dress so you have lots of extra fabric for the seamstress to work with! Haha. GL!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic That's me on the right, at 37 weeks. We did get to choose our dresses and I chose an empire waisted one, ordered the largest size they would sell without me needing to buy extra fabric. I have a fantastic seamstress, and she did all she could - but please don't have false hopes, you will look VERY pregnant - just give into it! :)

I know someone who was, and she was able to order a "same color" but different style dress that would work better for her. I am 37 weeks now, and granted, I get really big when pregnant, but I would have had to order WAY WAY up to have anything come close to fitting me now. I go from a sz 6ish normally, to a L or XL in maternity clothes. I've grown out of most of my maternity clothes and am just trying to get through the next few weeks wearing the same few things over and over.

If you haven't been pregnant before, it's going to be REALLY hard to judge what size you'd need. The extra fabric thing is a good idea.

When I was PG with DD I was 8 months pregnant in a wedding. My friend (bless her heart) ordered our dresses when I was 3 months pregnant and asked what size I would need. Yeah right!! Our dresses were horrible little pink knee length, strapless things though. I had to wear shorts under mine because my bump raised the dress too high.

Aside from the dress sucking, a lot of people told me I looked great, and with the bouquet in front of my belly you couldn't really tell there was a bump there. Most of the pictures don't look like I'm pregnant. Make sure you take it easy though on the day of the wedding. Being a BM is hard enough, but pregnancy can make it completely exhausting!

I am my sisters maid of honor this weekend and will be 35 weeks. I am normally a size 4 and ordered a size 12 (advice from the dress shop). It fits perfectly but it's a maternity bridesmaids dress. Also I look extremely pregnant in it but it's a pretty dress. I don't have any pictures yet.

I was a MOH @ 28 weeks.  I ordered my dress right after I found out I was pregnant.  The dress was empire waist and the dress shop advised me to order 2 sizes bigger.  The fit was PERFECT.  Even though I became VERY busty during this pregnancy I had to have the top taken in just a touch, other than that it was a perfect fit!
