Disagreeing on name spelling

So my husband and I finally chose a name for our 2nd daughter.... Blaire/Blair Mara. We went in circles forever and we are both really in love with this name. Hooray :) Nothing can be too easy though... We can't settle on a spelling. My husband only likes Blair and I don't know if he is going to budge. I like it spelled both ways, but am leaning towards Blaire. At this point though, I'm just kind of glad we finally found a name we love. And since I don't totally mind the name spelled Blair without an "e" I might not really put up a fight. What would you do? Push for it or no? Sometimes I think Blaire with an "e" is a little more feminine looking. Ps. If it makes any kind of difference we will have a sibset of Blair Mara and Ella Ivy (or Blaire Mara and Ella Ivy)! Pps. I know I posted a few times about Blaire vs. Blair, so thanks for bearing with me. I'm just not sure if I should bother fighting my husband on this one :)

The spelling of Blair is great. I don't see a point in fighting about it.

I agree with your DH and think Blair is a better spelling. Blaire looks like you wanted a Claire and went with a B instead. She'll have trouble with people misspelling it if you add the e.

Personally I prefer Blaire... but I would be happy enough if my husband and I could agree on a name to let him leave the E off.

I like Blair. But when thinking of dd signing her signature later in life, ending in an "e" might be better...

I much prefer Blair and think you'll have fewer spelling mistakes that way.  That said, it's really not that different and I'd let DH have his way if you both love the name.

Well, as you have mentioned "e"at last gives a famine look to the name, I agree with this point, but if your husband desperately wants not to add "e" at end, then also it's seems to be a nice name.

Compromise is a beautiful thing. When it came to naming DS2, although I strongly favored Reid vs. Reed, I let my DH make the final call as a way to better engage him in the naming process. I would've been fine either way.

Me too.  I prefer Sarah vs Sara.  I think they look more complete, but if it meant not having a name that I liked then I definitely would let it go.

I prefer Blair, so much so that I actually do not like Blaire. I agree with PP that it looks like you wanted Claire but settled. I also prefer Sara to Sarah so maybe there's a correlation? :-)

I really hate it spelled Blaire, but my opinion might be colored by the fact that my BFF is Blair, and I've known her for over 10 years.

I think Blaire is a more common spelling than Blair. I guess it probably depends on where you live.

I wouldn't put up too much of a fight over it...it's just a spelling. If it were the actual name, then of course I would.

I like the look of Blair better.  When it has the "e" on the end it makes me think you were trying to be creative with Claire or something.  I know some people spell Clair without an e, too, so I am not sure why I feel this way, but I definitely like it better w/o the e.

If you like both spellings why would you make things difficult? From reading the post it just seems like you're trying to make things more difficult for no real reason.

I think Blaire with an "e" looks misspelled so stick with Blair.

I prefer Blaire. The "e" seems to complete the name for me. However, if my DH agreed to Blaire/Blair he could spell it anyway he wanted ;)

I wouldn't fight over it. I'd just go with Blair and be happy that you agree on a name. It's not like your DH wants a made-up spelling, and you didn't have a strong preference at first.

I would look up which way the Blair/e Witch Project movie is spelled and spell it opposite of that.

I agree that the e makes it look more like a girl name to me.
