tormenting the baby already!

My boyfriend is super excited to interact with the baby and it's driving him nuts that at 16 weeks he can't feel the baby move yet. The other day we read that the baby can sense light now and it will move away from a light held hear my belly. That night, Bob came to bed armed with a flashlight. He spent 5 minutes poking me in the belly with the flashlight saying "Hey baby, how ya doing in there?". Even though he couldn't feel the movements I think he was satisfied knowing that he had "played" with the baby. I think our baby is in for a lot more tormenting in the months ahead!!

:] its feels nice to see the menfolk trying to interact and "play"

It does feel nice! I hear stories of other dads who have no interest in the baby even after it's born. I love the fact that he is already being as interactive as he can be. I can't wait until I can really feel the baby like that too :) right now I can only feel little flutters if I am really quiet.

LOL my SO did this too! He then made us both get under the covers to see how mad we would be if someone shined a light in our face when we were trying to sleep ;-)

I can feel a very light tap so I had my husband try and asked him if he felt anything and he thought I touched him. LOL. No...that was the baby.

I keep telling him that when the baby is old enough it is going to come in our bedroom in the middle of the night with a flashlight to see how we like it! :)

Haha that's cute! Already playing - he will be a good dad!

When we had our u/s the other day we could see the baby's profile. The CNM kept pressing on my uterus to hear the hb better and suddenly the baby jumped and turned his back on us, like "FINE, I don't want to see you if you're going to wake me up!" which I thought was funny. Your bf should bring his flashlight to the next u/s! :)

The other day my boyfriend felt the baby kick for the first time.  He literally jumped and gasped and immediately said "Did you do that?"  I just laughed and told him no.  It was a wonderful moment when he felt (what I have been feeling for weeks now) for the first time.

I was only beginning to feel the flutter movements at 19 weeks, I didn't feel the kicks/jabs until about 22 wks.  Last week the kicks/jabs are getting strong enough that they can be felt by daddy.  If you are feeling the flutters at 16 weeks then you will probably be feeling the baby full-on by 19 or 20 weeks.  The transition from flutters to full kicks/jabs will be sudden and amazing.  The second time it happened to me I was in public at Walmart.  I was so happy I started laughing and looked at a random stranger and said out loud "I just felt my baby kick!"  The stranger happened to be an older women who looked genuinely happy for me.

As for 'tormenting' the baby.  When I was just beginning to feel him I would purposely lay on my right side because it would cause him to roll around and rearrange himself....all so I could just feel him move.

Now at 25 wks he seems to enjoy playing soccer with my bladder or trying to climb up under my ribs (that is how it feels anyway)   I keep telling my boyfriend we gotta try the flashlight trick and see if he reacts.
