When did the gagging stop for you?

Not nausea, but the constant gagging sensation (nothing specific triggers it) that I have to hold back all day or chew gum to supress.  It's really friggin annoying and need to hear that it goes away in 2nd tri... thanks! lol

I never experienced gagging.

ETA: I think my response comes off as insenstive. I am really sorry you are going through this, I hope it stops soon.

I still have gagging issues and I'm 20 weeks.  Toothpaste, poopy diapers (which is very inconvienent (sp?) with a 2 year old) and my dog's poop still set me off.  I wish it would end, but I think I might be stuck with this until the end.

This.  Brushing my teeth was never a problem before pregnancy.  In the 1st tri it was really bad then got much better until about a week ago and now it's bad enough I have to take my toothbrush to work some mornings bc the urge seems to lighten up after I've been awake a little bit.

I still gag at a lot of things but it's not near as often as in 1st tri.

I've found with brushing my teeth it helps not to use toothpaste at first and then come back later to brush with toothpaste.

26 weeks and still gag.  I will say it's waaaaay better than 1st tri.  Now instead of multiple times a day it's like once every few days.  Most often it's brushing my teeth but sometimes I just get hit out of no where.  I breathe through it or chew gum.  I didn't have any of this with my 1st so this is new to me too.

I didn't really have to deal with this with DS, but with this pregnancy it is constant. Smells, and sights will obviously trigger it, but so will thoughts and memories of gross things. It is terrible! I'm 21 weeks and it's still going strong...

18 weeks and still at it!

We must have the same due date :)

I gag all the time.  I cannot brush my teeth, and the earlier I have to wake up, the worse it is.  I use a childrens toothbrush on the worst days.  I am a Vet Tech and cannot stand the sight or smell of feces, it makes for pretty interesting situations at work sometimes.  There are times when I'll start gagging out of nowhere, with no specific trigger.  I had thought I would be over this by now, too, and I wonder how long it'll last!

Mine stopped around 14 weeks.  There may have been a few times since then but it was over super nasty smells.  I think I would have gagged not pregnant!

Everyone is different though!  Good luck! :)

My doctor said that our bodies produce an excessive amount of saliva during the first trimester...that might explain the gagging sensation that comes out of nowhere.

I really only had the problem when I brush my teeth in the morning.  I finally had to stop brushing the inside of my teeth (eww) in the morning because if I gagged just once....BAM...I would lose my cookies.  I would just make sure to brush my teeth completely and carefully at night when the gagging sensation was not so bad.

I have noticed that the last couple mornings I 'forgot' and started brushing my teeth the normal way and didn't find myself gagging...so maybe the issue is disappearing for me.   (I am 25 wks)

Unfortunately, I now cough and gag from acid reflux. It may hang around a while.

omg this is me to a T! i can't stop gagging and for no reason! The only thing that helps keep it at bay is chewing gum...which I never do! i've gone through so much gum in the last few months! My last pregnancy i was throwing up through the whole time, from begining to end! This one i'm not doing that, but gagging is what kills me! i was hoping the second trimester it would stop but its just gotten worse! I'm 17 weeks and still going strong with it! ugh
