Not even a little bit close. I love Patrick.
Blakeley, even if it's a family name, sounds feminine and it rolls of the tongue awkwardly. Just go with Blake, maybe?
plunderb:Is Blakeley your former surname?
Nope. His grandfather's name.

ITA with you. I've mentioned to Dh about shortening to Blake and if we use Blakeley that is probably what will happen.
Patrick Dean. By a LONG shot.
ETA: I do like Blake.
Ditto
Bacon+lettuce+tomato:Does Blakely make it less awkward? I love his grandpa and I'd love to honor him. His MN is Clarence which is NMS at all.
not IMO, it still sounds the same, personally, I would use just Blake or Patrick Blakeley.

I agree. If you want to honor him, use it in the middle name spot. Patrick Blakeley is just fine.

I agree!
Blakeley has an incredibly feminine feel.
I love the name Dean. Patrick is the one I voted for.
Patrick > Blakeley
Patrick < Blake
I like Blakeley. I think it's different, and a family name. My husbands middle name is Patrick and he hates it.
I LOVE Patrick Dean!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Brakely/Blakeley, IMHO, is a great strong girls name, but not a boys name.
I voted for Patrick Dean. I strongly dislike Blakeley as a FN, even if it is a family name because it seems to be going girl right now. I'd keep it in the MN spot to honor g-pa.
So either Patrick Blakeley -OR- use Patrick Dean this time and save Charles Blakeley for potential DS2.
