eating less

Dd was eating 5oz pretty regularly for about a week or more every 33.5 hours, and all of a sudden she's averaging 4oz per bottle the past few days. Anyone experience this? Is it the end of a growth spurt? She's 7 weeks.

My DD is doing the same thing.  She is formula fed and was taking around 3.5 to 4 oz per feeding every 4 hours or so.  She has dropped to just eating 2 oz per feeding.  I'm worried she isn't getting enough to eat.  I'm anxious to see some responses.

Wow, my 7 week old did the exact same thing. I am glad to hear it happens with other babies. My son has a heart murmur and I've been starting to get worried that it is effecting his eating that can be a symptom. Realistically, it is probably the en of a growth spurt, I hope.

Same thing with DS. He was eating 4oz regularly and backed it off to 3-3.5. I'm sort of happy about this because if he kept upping it like he was, I'm not sure i could keep up with the amount since I'm pumping. This was at 6 weeks.

They usually have a growth spurt where they eat a lot, then it goes back down, then they eat a lot, then it goes back down.  My LO was the same way and now he is back up to 4-6 oz a feeding.

DD is still all over the place. Sometimes she can eat about 6 or 7 or as little as 2 or 3.There's really no rhyme or reason to how much she eats when.

A good rule is 2 to 2.5 for every pound they weigh. So, if your LO weighs 10lbs you should shoot for 20oz to 25oz in a day. Also, if they are averaging for the week somewhere in the 'right' range, thats ok as well. Some days LOs eat more than others, just like some days we're more hungry than others.

DD is doing exactly this at 4weeks old now. She's also projectile spitting up 1-2 bottles per day. We went through this with DS and he ended up having reflux and milk allergies. Right nw I'm leaning towards possible reflux with DS but waiting on her doctor to call me tomorrow to discuss. I'm not overly concerned about her drinking less as she is still regularly wetting diapers and not dropping weight.
