Zantac

My DD is 10 weeks old today.  She's been on Zantac for a little over 2 weeks now (.2 ml 3x per day).  Since she started the meds she's been a much happier baby.  I EBF and she was spitting up constantly until the meds.  Now its only once in a while.  Well, yesterday she spit up a ton and was fussier than usual.  She sounded a little congested in the morning until I got the humidifier running so I was hoping it was just maybe a little sinus drainage causing her to spit up.  Well today she is fussy again.  So here's my question:  how often does the dr. increase the dosage for your LO and do the symptoms come back so quickly like this?  I also need to add that today is my first day back to work, so its even harder to tell if she was just picking up on my stress with returning to work.  Should I just give it a few days?  I hate for her to suffer if she doesn't need to.

We had to up DD's Zantac dose after just two weeks, and it worked great once we increased it. Now, she's been on the same dose for 8 weeks, and still seems to be doing fine, so we decided to hold off on upping it for now. Good luck!

How long did it take to notice a difference after it was increased at 2 weeks?  I called the dr. Wednesday and they increased it from .2ml 3x per day to .3.ml 3x per day.  So she has had 5 doses of the higher amount and it doesn't seem to be doing anything yet.  I feel like I'm on the verge of a meltdown because I went back to work this week.  I am only getting about 3 hours of sleep a night and can barely function anymore.

Sorry for the delayed response - hopefully you'll see this! It got better for DD within a day of increasing the dose - definitely a dramatic difference! It sounds like you're on a very low dose, so maybe she needs more. DD started off at 1.25 ml twice a day (when she was 10 lbs 7 ounces), and she was increased to 4.5 ml twice a day at 10 lbs 15 ounces. It seems like a massive dose to give her, but she is tolerating it really well and it really works! She is 12 pounds 11 ounces now, and the 4.5 ml dose is still working.
