Implantation?

Hi Ladies,

I am new to this. My husband and I recently started TTC (starting in September).

My period was due this past Friday (11/23), nothing yet. Last Wednesday I had really bad stomach pains (like I had to go to the bathroom #2) which I did on and off for about an hour not alot but constant feeling like I had to run to the bathroom. In the evening, I felt like I had to urinate really badly by the time I made it to the bathroom I felt something wet in my undies, it was pinkish discharge. I went to pee and there were clots (red) in the toilet some were circular and one was long, and when I wiped, I had a pinkish/brownish discharge. I immediately ran to the store to get a pregnancy test (since it was 2 days before my expecterd period) I took it and it was negative. This was all in one day and have not had the pain or discharge since.

A few days ago I noticed a little blood in the morning when I went to pee (very light) which I thought was the start of my period so I continued to wear tampons. very small amount of pink blood was on it.

Today I am 4 days late and the same thing, light blood sometimes when I wipe and on tampons (not even enough to wear one). I took a test yesterday and it was negative. Breasts are also enlarged (more than when I am PMS-ing) and lower abdominal bloating.

Anyone able to help? I called my OBGYN but theyre out of the office today; they will call me in the morning.

Do you chart or use OPKs? If not, you could just have ovulated later than usual.

It sounds like you are spotting or having a light period. Implantation bleeding is pretty rare and the only way to confirm which it was is if you later get a positive pregnancy test or your period. If you are having clots it sounds more like your period than IB. There really is no need to call your doctor unless you go more than 60 days without a period. It's no big deal to have an occasional wonky cycle.

Implantation bleeding is pretty rare.  Also, you don't really know if you're late if you don't chart your basal body temperature to confirm ovulation.  You may have just ovulated late.

As to the 'symptoms', if you're pregnant enough to have symptoms, then you're pregnant enough to get a + HPT.  What you're experiencing are called phantom symptoms.

Also, please don't call your OB until you go 60 days without AF or a +HPT.  Otherwise, they're probably not going to do anything for you and you'll be wasting your time, their time and your money.

clots...sounds like a period....just sounds like a light and slightly late period. Once you start TTC you read into everything.

First of all welcome and good luck!

Second I agree with what Talon said.

For me when we first started TTC trying to concieve I was hyperaware of all of my symptoms because I was finally paying attention to them and they really messed with my head. They call that Phantom Symptoms.

It really helped when I started charting because from cycle to cycle I could see when things occured and how often.

Either way OP stick around. These ladies have a lot of great info to offer and its pretty fun here too!

Comments like this are what rora's post was referring to. There is a difference between well-deserved snark for totally stupid questions and snarking every single person who doesn't know as much about their body as you think you do just to make yourself look cool.

Also, for the record, today IS Tuesday. Good job with that one.

Did you recent stop taking BC? If so, it could just be a very light period or a wonky cycle.

It wasnt the same as period clotting, they were very small. Bright red and more tissue like. Not to be too graphic but one in particular had about a 1 inch string like thing attached to it. It was only that once.

Mrs. Mo I have never had this happen before. I still have not gotten my period and do not feel like I am PMSing (cravings, moods, etc).

I have had loads of things happen to me in the past 6 months of TTC that never "happened" to me before. However, I'm pretty convinced I just never noticed these things. Consider this - before you were TTC, have you ever really studied what comes out of your vagina like you do now? I sure didn't. I also never noticed that I get slightly sore boobs and more anxious after O.

It's hard TTC - you look into every symptom hoping that it means you are pregnant. You are likely just having a wonky cycle, although I hope you are actually pregnant.

Keep testing once a week until your period shows or you get a BFP. If you don't see either in 60 days, then put a call into your doctor.

Good luck!

You have gotten very advice, which is that it sounds like you had some different symptoms with your period this month. It is also very common to be more aware of "symptoms" when you start TTC. Keep taking HPT's once a week if you still think you are pregnant.

If you implanted on Friday I'd think you'd probably have a positive test by now if you were pregnant. I guess only time will tell. Good luck!

If you just went off BC it very likely could have been your period. Your body can have super weird cycles trying to regulate itself once you cold turkey those artificial hormones.

Sounds like you're spotting to me, but keeping testing, once a week, if you don't get AF.
