What to call baby?

I refuse to call baby "it" and I'm tired of saying "he or she" already. I wanted a nickname for the little one so we started calling baby Nugget. Just curious what everyone else was nick naming their nuggets?

We called DS peanut and baby a lot, but mostly just it. I dont' understand the big deal on calling an unborn child it.

We use 'baby' a lot or sometimes we'll refer to it as whatever fruit its the size of. That might be weird. Oh well, we just go with whatever comes out at the time we're talking.

My SO calls baby "pea head". I have no idea why. I just say baby.

^^ thisss.. it just feels so impresonal if i call MY baby an IT... its gender is already predetermind even if we dont know it, and its a human just like us and i sure dont like being called an it >.<  ( i call my baby "baby")

DH affectionately calls the baby, "Nubs" because that's all it had for arms and legs in our last u/s.

I say "the little peanut" a lot.

But Ive also been saying he. My doctor took an educated guess.

He asked if we want to find out the sex in general. We said yes. He said its too soon to tell but if I had to guess Id say boy. So we shall see. Cant confirm for at least another 7-8 weeks but I can't help but to say "he" here and there!

 Ive also said baby.

We call ours Otter. Our first that we lost was Penguin, so we just stuck with the cute animal theme.
Holy heck, we're pregnant again! Please stay here with us little Otter.

We have a heartbeat! 138 beats per minute and measuring right on track. Ultrasound 11/7/12 showed heartbeat in the 160s. Negative MaterniT21 results ... Found out at Anatomy Scan we're Team Blue!

Don't you know, if you called a child "it", they may develop gender confusion! LOL, just kidding, the snarkiness of TB is rubbing off on me I think. :) I don't get why people are bothered by calling a baby it either.

This little one has been nicknamed by my Hubby, "Cashew".  Still in the nut family, but my daughter was nicknamed "Peanut" during the pregnancy, so Cashew it is.  =)  Love my little Cashew already.

I don't really mind calling the baby 'it'. We didn't set out for a nickname, but the baby "earned" one. My husband's nickname is ____ie Bear, so what caught on for the baby is "gummy bear". I'm sure I fit into the protective Mama Bear category too, so it all works. :P Just a little bear family.

By best friend was nicknamed cabbage patch when she was a baby so her children have been named Brussel sprout and redukio both in the cabbage family, lol

We've been calling ours "Nibbler" in reference to the Futurama character who can eat anything and everything because I was literally hungry ALL THE TIME the first 2 weeks or so after we found out. :)

I can't explain why, but I didn't like calling the baby "It" either. It felt too impersonal. Somehow, giving it a temporary name makes me feel more bonded to it? Maybe I'm weird, but I like having a name for it. :)

I say "Baby girl is hungry" sometimes... now that I think about it I don't know if I'm talking about the baby or myself because we don't know the gender yet. I think I call it baby girl bc our dog is a girl and we treat her like a child sometimes, so all babies around here are "baby girl"- watch it be a boy, poor little guy!

I've been calling it Sparky, because I'm due on the 4th of July (firecracker --> sparkler --> Sparky). Which means I've also been saying "he," because Sparky sounds like a boy to me. Saying "it" doesn't really bother me, though.

We call ours "our little parasite" heh. Or sometimes just Baby.

My husband is also amused by the 'its the size of a raspberry!' thing so he'll start calling it other smallsized things. He's entertained by the idea of having meat sizes instead of fruits and veggies. Your baby's the size of a meatball! So he calls it meatball sometimes.

DH and I call the baby Squishy. My friend asked me what I was going to call the baby until it was born (we aren't finding out the gender) and the first thing that popped in my head was that quote from Finding Nemo "I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy" :)

Ours was "snowflake" due to our last name. But after finding out it was twins its boring "Baby A" and "Baby B". However B was caught on u/s dancing so all day its been She and A is now He. Hope I don't mix those up or give one a complex! haha
