Symptoms unusual? Help please :)

Hey Gals!

I am currently almost 5 weeks pregnant with my first and super excited! I am experiencing the usual symptoms of tiredness, mild cramps etc, and a few I am a bit concerned about. I have a sharp stabbing pain that comes and goes on my lower left side for a couple of days now off and on. My pelvis also feels really sore, almost bruised, on the left side. Anyone experiencing anything like this? I called my OB this AM and got hcg levels drawn- I will find out tomorrow what they are. My previous hcg level was 821.5 at about 4 weeks and 5 days, which I believe is good? I honestly am concerned about an ectopic pregnancy since I know a common symptom is the stabbing pain. Any insight would be great! Hope everyone is well!

xoxo

Veritas66:
relax and get over it

Well, someone has their panties in a bunch.

Anyways, on to some hopefully helpful advice...honestly, I'm a big believer in the "better safe than sorry" theory. You're pregnant. No one will judge you if you go in to your doctor's office wanting to be checked out...or even the ER.

Based on MY last pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy was high on the list of "maybes", so i would go if it were me. I would go in if you are really concerned.

I've had EVERYTHING you just mentioned. Fortunately, I have a sister that recently had a baby, so she has re-assured me that everything is ok. However, if she wasn't around to talk me through all of this, I would have done the same as you! Like the previous comment said, it's better to be safe than sorry!  You are the only one that knows your body. Do what you feel is best Big Smile Congrats!

it all sounds pretty normal to me :) but if your stabbing pain gets unbearable I'd see a Dr right away. are they testing your levels again? when I was about 4-41/2 weeks pregnant I also had the stabbing pain..not terrible but I could notice it. it has stopped now..and everything is fine with me. oh the joys of pregnancy!!

Just HCG level by itself is not a complete answer. The next reading should tell if  your betas are doubling every 2-3 days.

With my last pregnancy, I had these symptoms -  "I have a sharp stabbing pain that comes and goes on my lower left side for a couple of days now off and on. My pelvis also feels really sore, almost bruised, on the left side."

and it turned out to be ectopic. I hope yours is NOT but would strongly recommend you follow up and definitely call your OB or RE and rule it out and also seek an explanation/diagnosis for the pain.

This time around I am being closely monitored for ectopic I am at 5w and the only question my RE's office asks me  is whether or not I feel any kind of pain every time I call them with something.

Read this following link and flow chart on the page to inform yourself of the ectopic pregnancy.

Good luck and God bless!

Thank you for your response (and for standing up for me)..How rude do some people have to be? My first ever experience on this website, my first ever post about something I am truly concerned about, and I am told to "get over it." Heartless! Anyway, thank you again for your response! I appreciate your advice. I am still waiting to hear from my OB to see if my levels have risen. The pain in still there but it hasn't gotten any worse, so hopefully that's a good sign??! Hope you are well!!

That makes me feel a little better for sure! It is reassuring to hear others have experienced the same thing. I have NO friends who have had babies or are pregnant and have no one to talk to so thanks again for your advice! Waiting to hear from my OB. Hope you are doing well.

Thanks YoungMommy! My pain has not gotten any worse so I am hoping that's a good sign. Still comes and goes though. I had my levels checked on monday at my primary physician's office; OB checked my levels yesterday. Still waiting to hear from them with the results and wether or not I am to get re-checked thursday. I am glad your pain has stopped and everything is great for you!!! Thanks again for the advice!

I'd put in a call to your OB and don't play the pain down. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, you want to catch it ASAP. Praying that everything is fine!
