I'm a girl name bachelor

I told DH that this baby needs to be a boy because I'm not ready to commit to a girl name forever and ever.  And what if it's the only girl name we ever get to use?  EVER?!

Margaret is perfect for us.  Perfect on paper.  Buuuuuut, there are soooo many names out there.  Have I really considered them all?  Am I ok only ever getting to use it?

I feel like a stereotypical man on a lame TV show complaining about only getting one woman for the rest of his life.   I want to date the name Margaret, but I'm not sure if I can marry it.  And really I should because we've liked it a long time and I've been looking at baby names since I was 14 and I'm exhausted from it.  I know I've put in probably thousands of hours in thought over it.

Someone slap me.

I totally understand I was like this with my boy name. I'm actually sad b/c I know I only have one more shot at a boy and I don't want to commit to the boys name I always said I would use.

This describes perfectly how I feel about our boy name. We've agreed on Everett, but I don't know if I love it enough to keep it forever. I have a feeling it'll change 35 times before I even find out for sure what I'm having and then another 35 times (if it's a boy) once I find out.

I'm absolutely married to the name Natalie Ann for a girl, though. lol

I can't slap you because I literally could have written this exact same post today, word for word!

Margaret is perfect for us too, on paper. I just don't love it and feel nervous about committing to it. I was lamenting today how I worry I'll never settle for a girl name that I am excited about and on which we can compromise.  But I desperately want to have a daughter! But picking a boy name is so much easier. Aarghh!

I don't think there's many people on here who can't relate to this, haha.

I know exactly what you mean!  We agree on boy names much easier.  And my girl name taste is a bit all over the place, especially in popularity so DH is always trying to rein me in.  Sometimes he says he doesn't care but then that aggravates me more because I want him to have input and love the name.  He almost sold me on Zelda the other day until I read more about Zelda Fitzgerald.

This was totally me with my DD's name.  I love it, it's perfect for her, but every time I hear of a little girl with one of the few alternates we had picked out for DD, I get a little pang.

I think it's normal.

And, Margaret is gorgeous.  it was one of our alternatesStick out tongue

Haha, I'm right there with you. I'm having major commitment anxiety, for boy and girl names both. We've decided to not talk seriously about names until we know the sex, so I'm safe for several more weeks....but then.... :-/

this post is so funny! i have the opposite problem. i am not even KU yet, but i'm married to my names, both boy and girl. like you, i have put in countless hours thinking about these names! haha. now my only anxiety is that someone close to me chooses the same names and uses them before we get a chance to. i would be devastated! (now that is crazy!)
