Antibiotics

Earlier this month I had a UTI and took a series of a specific antibiotic. Now I have a cold but my new doc has prescribed a different antibiotic series. Should I be concerned about taking two different antibiotics so close to each other?

That was my thought. But then I was wondering if it was because of it possibly becoming a sinus infection since it's been a while and stuff sorry for TMI is no longer clear?

I would not take antibiotics for a cold. If you know it is an infection then maybe, but my snot is horrible green right now because of my cold.

So what medicines are you taking for your cold? My doctor recommended the behind the counter but not Rx sudafed I can't remember the name of it though. Does that sound familiar at all?

If your concerned, ask whoever prescribed Them for you if it's really necessary, and if not maybe wait it out and see if it gets better.  As others said, they won't help a cold, and sometimes docs prescribe them just as a precaution.  Try a netti pot, but either boil the water first or use bottled.  They work wonders for sinus congestion.

I had a wicked cold a few months ago and my OB told me what over-the-counter meds to get. I went to CVS and talked to the pharmacist to make sure I chose the right things. Sudafed (regular, 12-hour, no extra-strength) for stuffy nose, Robitussin (again, just the plain Robitussin, no DM or anything like that), and regular strength Tylenol for headaches. You can also take cough drops if you get a sore or scratchy throat. But I wouldn't take antibiotics for a cold since they won't do anything. If it was a sinus infection, sure, but not for a cold.

Also, you can use a saline nasal spray to help loosen everything up and keep your nose from getting dried out.
