6 months later...finally figured out ovulation!

We've been trying since June, not a whole lot because of crazy schedules but no luck. I've always been very irregular which is normal for me so having difficulty TTC was/is expected. I started charting everything including my temperature which really didn't seem to help. My temperature was all over the place so I gave up after awhile. I read about ovulation, kind of confused as to how to figure out based on symptoms when I was ovulating...I bought a bunch of ovulation tests and started using them every morning. I'm happy to report that after using them for 2 weeks I was ovulating and now I truly understand all the signs of ovulation because I had them. I know it's not a positive pregnancy test but I'm just so happy to know I actually ovulate despite my crazy periods. It gives me hope and I hope that this little simple beginning story gives hope to others with irregular periods. At least I'm more educated and understanding of my body and hopefully in 5 or so weeks (maybe more, trying to be positive and realistic) that I can report on some even more exciting news :)

Happy Trying Ladies

great news! I promise im not trying to burst your bubble or anything but are you also temping? OPKs don't tell you if your ovulating, only that your body is releasing LH in an attempt to ovulate. Again I promise Im not trying to bring down your excitement but I don't want you spend another 6 months thinking you are ovulating and wondering why your not getting pregnant.

Best of luck and I hope you get your BFP sooon!

This! Temping can be a real pain in the butt, but if you start getting into the habit, you might start noticing a pattern. If you were temping orally before, you could try temping vaginally instead. Some women get more accurate temps that way and are able to see a better pattern.

Thanks guys! I feel so encouraged! I tried temping...1 my temps were off and not normal and 2 my digs decided the thermometer was a chew toy and leaving it right next to the bed wasn't working. I am trying to be positive yet realistic so we'll see...

What do you mean by the bolded? Were you using a BBT? Were you temping at the same time every day?  I am not sure what you mean by being off or not normal but we may be able to help if you can elaborate on this a bit.

I was temping for nearly a month, same time every day as soon as my alarm would go off I would grab the thermometer. Everything seemed correct except for my temperatures not really showing any consistency but that's not what made me stop. My dogs decided to start chewing the thermometer so I'd set it and forget to have it right by my bed. I suppose if I put a shelf by my bed they couldn't get to it...? That's why I started using ovulation predictors. I know it's not always accurate or means I'm
for sure going to ovulate but this particular time I thought a day later "oh I'm ovulating and had all the signs including soft cramping and the sticky white discharge everyone talks about and maybe it's just me reading into
Things but I was very excited about trying! Do you think I should continue with the ovulation tests or just do that and taking my temp? What are some tips to getting an accurate temp and is it common to have it fluctuate so much?
